At present, the university campus construction in our country is one of thegreatest in quantity, the fastest in development and the maximum in investmentspending in the world. Because the contemporary campus has already taken on thecharacteristics of systematization and diversification, the scientific campus facilitiesprogramming and design, the optimization of resource configuration and a saving inconstruction spending have a lasting significance and effect on the sustainabledevelopment of our country and the universities. In view of the systematization and diversification characteristics ofcontemporary campus and the challenges in the current campus facilitiesprogramming and design in our country, this paper put forward a systematizationthought of the campus facilities programming and design in our country based on theadvanced manufacturing management, a sustainable development ideal and theindustrial engineering and system engineering theory and methods. For the two flows( the person flow and the vehicle flow) in the campus programming and design, industrial engineering facilities planar configuration and system evaluation theory areutilized to optimize the functional partition and facilities configuration in order tocompensate for the deficiencies of traditional campus programming and design, whichwill provide new methods and theories for future facilities programming and design. This paper mainly deals with following aspects:1. The functional partition and facilities configuration design that is based onthe industrial engineering and system theory is investigated in order to optimize thecampus resource configuration, improve its efficiency and cut down the facilitiesconstruction spending.2. Based on the study of various mathematical models and their solutions inchoosing facilities locations, a mathematical model and its solution in campusfacilities location choosing is presented.3. The campus facilities design evaluation guideline and methods are presented.4. Put forward the guide lines of the sustainable development in campusfacilities programming and the campus carrying capacity characteristics using the lawof entropy.5. A summary of this paper is presented. And future work and potentialdevelopment in this field are also indicated.
