As the method of the high performance composite cement mortar laminates reinforced by mesh reinforcements (CMMR laminates) strengthening RC structures was presented, the people in structural strengthening domain paid great attention to it and were interested in it very much because of its remarkable strengthening effect, easy construction and good construction quality, low cost, superior fire resistance and high temperature resistance, superior ductility and durability, advanced compatibility and harmony between the mortar and the old concrete, advantages of structural cross section and weight without obvious increase due to strengthening, characteristics of no pollution etc. The concerned research subjects have been financed as soon as possible by the Research Fund for the Doctoral Programmer of Higher Education of P. R. china and the Natural Science Foundation of Hunan Province, etc. The study of this dissertation focused on the thesis of RC columns strengthened by this method, which was carried out from many aspects.The high performance composite cement mortar developed with the performances of the high strengths, the advanced deformation capacity and energy dissipation ability, the good crack resistance, the superior durability due to its high dense nature, the strong cohesiveness to mesh reinforcements and aggregates etc meet the requirements of the CMMR laminates as the basic component. The developing inorganic interface adhesive made of A and B groups of components could provide significantly the reliable bond strength between the mortar and the concrete with its excellent cohesiveness. The cooperating use of the mortar and the interface adhesive could surmount various problems found in ferrocement-strengthening method with ordinary cement mortar. It was discovered too that welded meshes of cold-rolled steel bar with ribs are most suited for reinforced component of the CMMR laminates due to its superiority of overall performance.The mechanism of the CMMR laminates improving or increasing various performances of strengthening columns was exposed by the experimental research and theory analysis on the monotonic loading test of axially compressed small columns strengthened and eccentrically compressed approximate full-size columns strengthened in once only loading.
