This dissertation is sponsored by'211 Project'of Ministry of Education of China for the subject of"investigation of parallel reliability analyzing for bulk power system". The dissertation presents further study of parallel processing in power system, and particularly focuses on bulk power system reliability evaluation on parallel processing environments, a topic which currently has not been evidently broken through.In this dissertation, the author constructs Beowulf Cluster based on Linux+MPI and COTS architecture to solve power system problem through parallel processing. A novel preconditioning approach, which is suitable for solution of large-scale power system equations, is proposed. And the preconditioned Krylov Sub-space method is utilized to implement fast computation of the large sparse sets of linear equations, which is applied to the solutions of large-scale power flow calculation, state estimation, and static security analysis in Beowulf cluster environment. Furthermore, the dissertation studies parallel simulation of bulk power system reliability evaluation, firstly implements fast computation based on Beowulf Cluster with high speed-up and parallel efficiency, and evidently alleviates the"calculation catastrophe"of bulk power system reliability evaluation using parallel processing technology. In addition, a web-based tele-computation system for bulk power system reliability system is developed based on B/S architecture in this dissertation.Achievements of the dissertation are the followings:(1) High performance computation is an effective approach for large-scale power system simulation and analysis. The author constructs Beowulf Cluster based on Linux+MPI and COTS architecture to solve power system problem. According to practical constructing experience, the basic architecture of high performance Beowulf Cluster for power system is presented, and the detailed constructing methods of high performance price ratio are described in terms of hardware, network and software in this dissertation. In addition, Beowulf Cluster has passed the tests of LinPACK, NPB and PMB, which are the benchmarks for performance evaluation.
