The heat pump air conditioner with domestic hot water supply (HPACDHWS) presented in this dissertation is a novel saving-energy heat pump device. The system adopts several technologies, such as recovery of condensing heat, thermal storage and heat pump, etc. It can synthetically utilize energy of compression refrigeration cycle and satisfy the need of air conditioning and domestic hot water simultaneously. At the same time, its application will improve some problems of the conventional system (an air conditioner and a hot water heater), such as large consuming energy, wasting energy and thermal pollution to environment. Therefore, HPACDHWS is obviously in favor of development economy, environment and society. According to different operation strategies and achieving functions, it can realize five operation modes by switching some valves, such as space-cooling mode, space-heating mode, space-cooling and water-heating mode, water-heating mode and space-heating and water-heating mode. Basing on above-mentioned operation characteristic, HPACDHWS is especially suitable for tropic and subtropical areas where outdoor temperature is high, space cooling and water heating is necessary simultaneously and the period of space cooling is long.In order to study the operation characteristics of HPACDHWS, distributed parameter simulation models of the fin heat exchanger and the plate heat exchanger are built up. The compressor model is founded in map-based method, and the thermodynamics expansion value model is built up in force balance method. The dynamic system model is the efficient connection of all component models by laws of equalization of mass, momentum and energy. These models can provide powerful tools for studying operation performance of HPACDHWS. The thermal storage device suit for family is reasonably designed. Its design method provides a way for designing thermal storage devices for other purpose. Moreover, the thermal storage device model is built up in order to understand its thermal storage performance.
