With high-speed development of basic establishment and durative advance of the West Development in China, many deep-lying thru-mountain long tunnel starts to build, especially thru-mountain long highway tunnel used in highway communication, and the geological conditions is more and more complex, so the systemic study on geologic forecast in thru-mountain long highway tunnel building is necessary and pressing, it has not only practical engineering significance but also high theoretical value.By field monitoring, indoor test, data processing and numerical simulation, some key technology and problems, such as the rock mass structure, surrounding rock quality rating, crustal stress field, hydrodynamic force field and forecast of geological hazards, are studied systematically in base of geological analyses, which is combine closely the Xuefeng mountain tunnel engineering practice. The system of technology and method, which is suitability for thru-mountain long highway tunnel, is built primarily. There are important results and contents in this paper.(1) The deficiency and development trend of geologic forecast of tunnel has been pointed out through expatiating its research present situation in home and abroad.(2) The conception of geological forecast is defined, and the geological forecast of the thru-mountain long highway tunnel is divided into two phases(survey phases and construction phases), named advance forecast and real-time prediction respectively, and the meaning and purpose and task of each is indicated.(3) Combined characteristics of the project, rock mass structure, surrounding rock quality rating, crustal stress field, hydrodynamic force field, advance forecast of rockburst and estimation of water quantity are studied electively during survey phase of the tunnel. The results of analyses and forecast are approved to be right on the whole.(4) During construction phases of the tunnel, the research trace of synthetical prediction is built in order to increasing accuracy of prediction, which is based on the results of advanced forecast and use some simple fast effectual test method and...
