The telescopic projectile is a kind of new idea for the KE projectiles. The problems for this idea have stress intensity in firing, extended methods and motion of extended structures, exterior ballistics, terminal ballistics and etc for the telescopic projectile. This paper researches a series of key problems which are concerned with extended structure for the projectile. These important results in this paper can give strongly supports for the projectile. The major study context in this paper includes those:A) The gas chamber device on the projectile may spread the rod out from the tube. A model of the gaseous flow between plenum chamber on the projectile and in the bore was established through introduction of the chromosome function. The gas chamber parameters could be produced by the model. The agreement between calculations above the model and static tests are fairly good. Furthermore, a dynamical model that the rod on the telescopic penetrator spread out from the tube, and a model of locking device were established too. The dynamic tests above gaseous flow's model had confirmed that above these three models were accurate and useable. If the geometrical coefficients of chamber are confirmed appropriately, the maximal gas pressure in chamber would be realized in firing process. The gas pressure in chamber will be kept constantly, if a technique of gas hold-up is applied. If the technique of gas hold-up is applied and the ratio of extended volume and geometrical coefficients are confirmed appropriately, the rod is hold in extended position. When the rod of telescopic projectile has been spread out from the tube, aero distances of the projectiles are within the range of 16m. When it is used the plenum chamber on the projectile, gas hold-up and locking device, the extended structure of telescopic can be effectively realized.B) When launch, only then the tube is impel by sabot on the telescopic penetrator. Under this condition, Launch strength of telescopic penetrator is summed up as a question about the interface of being supported between shell and rod. It is a dynamic load question. Under certain conditions, it belongs to "moves does not decide" and basic elastic dynamical question. A single DOF model in which the parts of rod are elastic and other parts are rigid was established. This model indicates that the structure is more advantageous to launch strength of the projectile. In this structure, the rod is supported by two interfaces of tube and clearance exists in the second interface between shell and rod. A 3 DOF finite element's model in which tube and rod all are ideal elastic and plastic was established. A method to determinate the state of shell-rod's stress was proposed. The...
