In this dissertation, considerable research results had been obtained on the Reinforced Concrete Special-shaped Short Column (RCSSC) frame in China, from which, compared with common frames, it can be concluded that there are many unique advantages of this kind of frame, such as less weight and more usable area, but there are also some disadvantages, such as weaker section and less ductility.Therefore, it is of great significance to increase the axial compressive strength and ductility of SRCSSC when the same area of the section in practical engineering is kept.In view of the great achievements on the study of steel reinforced concrete, the performances of the Steel Reinforced Concrete Special-shaped Short Column (SRCSSC) are studied by some experiments, where steel bars are added. At the same time, it can be regarded as a preliminary exploration in the field of reinforcing the foundation for the building.Through the synthetical analysis on the characteristics of both the RCSSC and the steel reinforced concrete rectangular-shaped column, the suggestion that the steel bars are added in special-shaped short columns has been firstly proposed in this dissertation. Both the strength property and the antiseismic property of the SRCSSC have been studied through the test and the numerical calculation method, respectively. The research work and the main conclusions can be listed as follows.The research of steel reinforced concrete shaped short column in antiseismic performance is carried out. The factors such as axial pressure ratio, shear span ratio, hooped ratio, steel ratio and so on, which affect the ductility of steel reinforced concrete T-shaped short column have been analyzed. The relative curves beween factors and ductility are obtained. The suggested limit values of axial pressure ratio of steel reinforced concrete T-shaped short columus are proposed through the test, which satisfy certain requirement of ductility.In this paper, tests are carried out on axial compressive strength of both the L-shape and the T-shape short columns. When steel bars are added in them, it indicates that the axial compressive strength of these columns can be improved. The axial compressive strength formula of both the steel reinforced concrete L-shaped columns and the T-shaped columns are presented.
