Facing the intense competition in the world-wide economy, China's shipbuilding industry needs to realize digital shipbuilding to elevate the industry's core competence and provide a strong support for the industry's development. Digital shipbuilding needs the support of information technology. With the fast changing information technology, shipbuilding industry must carefully plan the application of information technology in digital shipuilding. It is found that only through the standardization method of information technology can lay a stable foundation for digital shipbuilding. XML and XML-based standards have an important position in the standardization of information technology. The research in this thesis is focused on how to solve some difficulties in didital shipbuilding using them. One of the difficulties in didital shipbuilding is to realize the standardization of ship product data. Then the obstacle to build seamless integrated enterprise information systems can be removed. Through research on the ship STEP standards, difficulties in applying them in shipbuilding industry are recognized. XML is suggested to describe the ship product data. The complex mechanism in STEP is discarded and a method to quickly build XML model from STEP is proposed. Key technical problems in this process are solved.Considering ship offsets table that is frequently used and exchanged, the shortcomings of its traditional expression and modem computer expressions are analyzed, and a new expression format based on XML is proposed. This format has some advantages such as easy to program, extensible and convenient format conversion, and is fitful to be the standard computer storage format of ship offsets table. On this basis, the idea of using XML to solve the integration of ship CAX soft-wares is proposed, and the application of XML in the modelling of ship piping and BOM data is analyzed. With the development and popularization of network, the ship design information should be accurately published and shared on it in digital shipbuilding. Using SVG which is the Intemet 2D vector graphics standard and based on XML, the precise conversion of ship 2D design drawing from AutoCAD to SVG format is realized. Through the knot-insertion algorithm of NURBS curve, the problem that the cubic NURBS curve in the ship design drawing can not be expressed using SVG format is solved. The data of ship 3D hull expressed in NURBS curve and surface is extracted from AutoCAD and outputted to X3D format which is a network 3D graphics standard based on XML. Thus the precise expression of ship 3D design information on network is realized. The research lays the basis for future development of various ship applicatons based on network.Digital shipbuilding needs support of softwares and seamless integration of different software systems. Recognizing the status and advantages of software development in China's shipbuilding industry, an open shipbuilding software development framework based on Web Service is proposed. This framework makes use of the existing network environment in the shipbuilding industry, and can organize the isolated personnel and resources to cooperatively develop open software services that can communicate with each other in a loosely coupled way. The future organization form of shipbuilding industry called shipbuilding virtual enterprise is proposed. With the application of SOA architecture and Web Service technology, the application integration frameworks among and in the shipbuilding virtual enterprise are proposed, and the implementation methods of the framework are given out.Based on the above work, the solution with three layers of standards for the network integration of information systems in digital shipbuilding is suggested. The solution uses the newest IT technology and effectively supports the sustainable development of digital shipbuilding. The architecture and component technologies of the solution are given out and introduced, and the key technologies to implement this solution are analyzed.
