Because of the importance of structure, complexity of technology, and large proportion of investment, the anti-seepage wall system has acted an important role in water resources and hydro-power engineering. Chronically the study of anti-seepage wall materials has be concentrated on plastic concrete and high compressive strength concrete in china, and the solution of material selecting of designers is same too. Exactly, the two kinds of concrete have different performances and different applied ranges, so, it is not reasonable that one of the two concretes has been applied by all projects with different characteristics. In order to change the serious status, and to research and development a new material of concrete, the clay concrete with moderate compressive strength and low elasticity modular has be studied especially in this paper.Based on the theory of high performance concrete and the theory of numerical simulation, the new material of clay concrete and structural performance of anti-seepage wall have be studied systematically, which include raw material selecting,. mix design methods, mechanical performance, test methods, durability, calculative model of anti-seepage wall, stress characteristic, construction technics, engineering applying, etc. As result, some comparatively perfect conclusions have been drawn, and a new material for hydro-projects has been provided too, which has obviously advantages of low cost, relatively high compressive strength, relatively low. elasticity modular, and high anti-seepage performance.Some studies on soil concrete in anti-seepage wall have be done in china,but the study reported on clay concrete,especially on clay concrete with limited compressive strength and elasticity modular,is few,so the study of this paper is done without corresponding references. Through systematic testing, the performance and developing law of compressive strength with age,seepage coefficient,and elasticity modular of clay concrete has been studied in this paper. It has been proved in evidence that clay concrete has more advantages for earth dam anti-seepage wall which include fast increasing of compressive strength,slow increasing of elasticity modular,and large improving of anti-seepage performance,larger exchange coefficient of cylinder specimen to cubic specimen,etc. If the age of 90 days can be applied by designers,it will be more reasonable in technology and in economy for clay concrete to be applied.Belong to historical reasons,many earth dams had been constructed in china,and many of them were ill and danger dams since being constructed, the problem is more serious especially for little scale reservoirs. It can be seen that it is one of the keystone tasks all along in china to reinforce and remove danger engineering, so the clay concrete will be applied extensively in the future.
