Study On Framework System Of Natural Zoning For Highway In Gansu Province

Gansu province, located in inland China, has complex and various natural environment conditions composed of unique geomorphologic landscape, diverse climate types, geotechnical materials with complex genesis and different characteristics, hydrologic conditions with internal and external flow, rich vegetations and ecological environment. As artificial works constructed in natural environment, highway passes various regional units. The highway is affected by natural environment during both construction and service stage. At the same time the construction of highway will affect natural environment, especially the vulnerable ecological environment of Gansu province which requires sufficient attention.Framework system of natural zoning for highway and its technical route in Gansu province are set up based on achievements of natural zoning at home and abroad, natural conditions and highway construction in Gansu province. The framework system consists of comprehensive, specific and monomial zoning for highway in Gansu province. Principle, methods and index system of comprehensive and specific zoning for highway as well as corresponding names are proposed in the paper. The use of GIS for spatial data acquisition and management, spatial analysis, cartography extort, parameter calculation and system integration brings zoning study into digital phrase, which may speed up the study process and improve the depth and quality of investigation.On the base of monomial zoning for highway specific zoning for highway such as geomorphology, climate, geotechnical materials, hydrologic geology and disaster of highway is completed. And on the base of specific zoning for highway the paper gives out natural zoning for highway in Gansu province. The study on natural zoning for highway in Gansu province is significant for construction of highway as well as for protecting vulnerable ecological environment, reducing the cost of construction and maintenance, carrying out scientific development view and taking the sustainable development path. Furthermore it is significant for promoting the research and development on natural zoning for highway nationwide.
