In Yunnan area, the hypsography is large and the climatic environment is complex, besides, there has remarkable zonal difference between them, which has great influence on highway engineering construction. Highway is a kind of linear structure that builds in natural environment directly; there has various relationships of itself and the circumstance around it. The aim of research on natural zoning for highway is making the construction of highway to fit local natural environment better and guaranteeing to adjust engineering technical measures according to local conditions in the program, design, construction and maintenance of highway.Through full investigation and detailed collection of various natural and geographical conditions of Yunnan Province and highway construction-related information, data, maps, highway industry-related technical regulations in the document the specific requirements and regulations, as well as relevant research results, on the basis of referencing division principle and method on natural zoning for highway at home and abroad, the paper proposeds the Yunnan province principle, method and the indicator system. Based on the principles, this paper established:Climate regionalization of Yunnan highway; Landform regionalization of Yunnan highway; Rock-Soil regionalization of Yunnan highway; Hydrology regionalization of Yunnan highway; Geological hazards regionalization of Yunnan highway; Different soil group EO value recommended table in second-level zoning and Natural regionalization of Yunnan highway. We also established Geographical Information system on natural Regionalization of Yunnan highway for the first time.Because of this research takes the theory and methods of Geographical Information System, it can quantify the geographical factors more accurate, and understand the influence of natural environment on highway clearer. This paper also finished the geographic information systems, which including basic data and zoning structure, the adoption of the zoning system can also adjust and optimize the results. The result of this paper has a positive assist to Yunnan Highway construction and is a good reference to highway natural zoning of other parts...
