As an essential part of the whole life cycle of the missile, the concept design of aeronautical missile exerts direct influence on the success of final products. Successful application of existing knowledge, techniques and experiences is an important way of enhancing concept design efficiency. Sponsored by two projects,"The Software System and Relative Studies of Concept Design Optimization for Aeronautical Missiles"and"Knowledge-Based Construction and its Application Studies", this paper describes a profound study of the knowledge integration, configuration design and optimization techniques for the concept design of aeronautical missiles, with proper consideration of its complexity and creativity.Addressing the specific problems encountered in the modeling and designing phases of aeronautical missile overall concept design, this study establishes a integrating framework for aeronautical missile concept designs. Based on knowledge-based engineering, integrating configure design, optimization design and evaluate methods, this framework provides strategies for knowledge integration and problem solving.Taking into account the fact that the missile design is a multiple disciplinary problem, this study analyses the shortcomings in traditional knowledge representations and sets up a knowledge integration representation model for aeronautical missile concept design. Based on object-oriented technology, this model also integrates technologies of production rules, case representations and neural network, and hence achieves the integration of various knowledges. It proposes a dynamic-binding based property representation technique and an object oriented knowledge representation for the design process design of missile concepts, expanding the representation capacity of each knowledge category. The study of integration technologies of rules and neural network provides supports for the integration and activation of knowledge categories and incomplete knowledge reasoning.With the serialization of missile parts and hierarchical modularization of design processes, applications of configuration design in new products will enhance their design efficiency and reliability. This study focuses on the constraints of the missile configuration and establishes a configuration knowledge model based on the assembly tree. Deriving a hierarchical object model from the tree map and based on integrated knowledge representation, it studies the evolution and management of the configuration knowledge and verifies its effectiveness by specific cases.Although application of knowledge-based engineering can provide the initial concept, optimization can hardly be achieved because of the limitations of symbol reasoning. Thus the integration of optimization technologies is a necessity. Due to the influences of uncertain factors and fuzzy factors, the optimum decision involves multiple objectives. Based on physical programming technologies, this paper constructs a fuzzy robust optimization model. Its effectiveness is verified by the optimization of the missile mass.Despite of its tremendous development, optimization technologies cannot assure that their results satisfy practical needs because of the application of approximate models and the disturbance of uncertain factors. Thus the concept evaluation is an indispensable phrase. This paper proposes an evaluation method based on physical planning. By way of comprehensive analytic hierarchy process and visualized human-computer cooperation, this multi-solution comprehensive evaluation system assures the objectivity and rationality of its evaluation results.Based on the results described above, this study establishes a prototype system of aeronautical missile concept design platform with application of object-oriented languages and data base technologies as well as integration of the commercial software. All the ideas and methods mentioned above have all been realized and successfully applied in the supporting researches and the supporting researches and developments of the project.
