During the process of variable load, because of the hydropower station work condition frequent switchover, the discharging of electricity generated with load change generates unsteady flow phenomenon in the upstream and downstream of reservoir. So the rang of stage, rising rate of speed and current velocity of stream way change much more than natural stream channel, which makes disadvantage effects to the navigation of stream way. Especially to the hydropower station with high-capacity, great reservoir capacity, and large capacity meter such as Three Gorges Project, flow variable amplitude influences severely on the navigable requirements of the upstream and downstream of the Three Gorges hydropower station.The subject of this paper is a deliberate research of how the flood consideration of the step flyer affects the navigation, which is based on the already data and result. In this paper, the prototype observation, model experiment and numerical analysis is been carried out.The major contents are as follows:(1)The paper investigate the stream way of Three Gorges Dam and Gezhouba Dam deliberately, and mainly analysis the character between these two dam and the character their bench changes.(2)According to the gravitation similarity criterion, the entity Three Gorges Dam and Gezhouba Dam's stream way model scaled 1/150 has been established and an acceptable similarity has been proved. Then the author develops a two-dimension mathematic model to reflect the fluid form between the two dams.(3)Depending on the section condition between and the way Three Gorges Dam turn up the flood peak, the author research the unsteady flow condition between these two dams and how dose the unsteady flow affect the navigation.(4) Aiming at the characteres about Gezhouba and Three Gorges powerstations, one optimize dispatching model of the reservoirs has been established which navigation was considered. Using this model, a lot of reliable data can guide the powerstaions how to shave peak. Plactise shows that this model is reasonable and useful.
