A Study On The Traditional Theories And Succession Of Chinese Landscape Architectural Design

The long history of Chinese civilization cultivates a rich and splendid culture of Chinese Landscape Architecture.As a part of cultural tradition of China's long history,Landscape Architecture fully embodies the wisdom and skills of the Chinese nation,reflects the Chinese people's awareness and thinking of natural,and forms a complete understanding and appreciation way as well as its creative building program.Its unique perspective and means shows the rich and constantly changing universe. With the advancement of our society,the modern Landscape Architecture in China can not remain in the tradition.What must be done are to carry on the tradition,to develop the traditions,and to create the modern Chinese Landscape Architecture which is both related to traditional sources and adapting to contemporary society,economic,science,technology and culture.This dissertation attempts to re-examine the tradition using an open perspective,to explore the deep content and spirit of traditional Landscape Architecture as well as its apparent formal structure. Through the analysis of the specific appreciative psychology and thinking way of the Chinese people, this paper summarizes the unique aesthetic characteristics and its space mood of the traditional Landscape Architecture formed in the long process of development,and initially establishes the basic aesthetic framework of the traditional Landscape Architecture.In combination with the Place theory, Regionaiism and Tectonic theory,this thesis explores the development and innovative ways in contemporary Chinese Landscape Architecture,in order to create the modern Landscape Architecture with Chinese characteristics and local style and in line with the needs of modern society.The context of this study is:firstly dissertate the cultural features of Chinese traditional Landscape Architectural design from a philosophical,aesthetic point of view on the whole;and then systematically expound the design theories of Chinese traditional Landscape Architecture from the general to the detail; at last investigate the succession and innovation way of China's modern Landscape Architectural design from the relationship between tradition and innovation.Simultaneously in the globalized environment, this thesis presents the development direction of Chinese Landscape Architecture in accordance with international trends in the development of Landscape Architecture.Through a long period of development,the art of Chinese Landscape Architecture forms a unique set of rich and successful experience with very precious reference value in the respects of sitting,layout, landscaping,selection,space,details and the organic blend of architecture and environment.Whereas the implicated harmony beauty between man and nature,the poetic and painting mood and the sense of time and space,are the deep background of the formation and development of traditional Chinese Landscape Architectural design theories.To maintain the continuation of traditional culture in Landscape Architectural creation,there should be a real attitude and a moving and developing point of view for the tradition,going beyond the surface of the form and deeply into the traditional cultural bosom,which means that the traditional culture of their own should be continuously developing and update.In the context of globalization,the traditional culture of Landscape Architecture includes protection,development and innovation in a number of levels."The traditional and the modern","the regional and the international" should be integrated and complemented each other.Looking ahead,the key to the development of China's Landscape Architecture will depend on the creative combination of modern technology and traditional culture as well as local characteristics,so as to form the "symphonic but different" and a variety of Landscape Architecture environment,and to realize the multi-level co-integration and symbiosis of the traditional and the modern.
