The RC frame with special-shaped columns, i.e. columns with L, T or十-shaped cross sections, is a kind of widely used structure system with satisfactory performance in residential buildings. Being particular with cross sections, its anti-seismic performance is inferior to RC frame with rectangular columns. So the specification strictly controls the axial compression ratio of the special-shaped column, thus resulting in a relatively lower altitude and fewer layer numbers. To solve this practical problem, this paper creatively introduces a kind of new structure which combines CS slab with special-shaped column RC frame. Because CS slab has rather strong ability to bear vertical and horizontal loads, the combination of the two elements will greatly enhance the structure′s anti-seismic capacity, resulting in the increase of the new structure′s altitude and layer number. The CS slab is a wall material with high qualities in heat preservation, sound insulation, fire prevention, free arrangement and so on. The new structure not only possesses the advantages of traditional structure system, but also excels in energy saving, field preservation and environment protection. The main contents of this paper are as follows:1. Based on practical project, a pseudo-static test was conducted on a 6-story RC frame model with special-shaped columns, which is 1/3 in size of the prototype under 8 degree seismic intensity. The anti-seismic property is appraised comprehensively by analyzing the hysteretic behavior,ductility,plastic hinges of beams and columns, strength and rigidity regression. The results show that RC frame with special-shaped columns has good anti-seismic property.2. Pseudo-static test was conducted on CS slabs in order to analyze the anti-seismic performance by P-Δcurve. The test shows the CS slab has strong anti-seismic capacity.3. Finite-element analyses on the RC frame and CS slab were conducted separately. The analysis result has been compared with the experiment result .Because the two results are in ideal accordance, we can conclude that the finite element model is fit for the research of the new structure system.4. Based on the above-mentioned result, the finite-element numerical analysis of the new structure system was conducted. The result shows that the anti-seismic capacity of the new system can be 3 times that of the traditional one. Its displacement is only 1/3 that of the RC frame.The result shows that the new system has good anti-seismic property.5. A push-over analysis of the two systems was completed. The result shows that the two systems can satisfy the anti-seismic requirements, while the new system is better in its property.
