A large number of Cyclops propagate in the eutrophic lakes, reservoirs and other water sources. Because of the anti-oxidation and the strong swimming, conventional water treatment process was so ineffective on removing Cyclops that can penetrate the filtrater into the fresh water pool filter and have been found in some cities pipelines. Cyclops is an intermediate host of some disease-causing organisms in water such as schistosomiasis, nematodes and sparganosis, can transmit a variety of infectious diseases indirectly and may result in disease-causing organisms Tparasitizing inT the human brain and others vital organs. For drinking water and personal security, Cyclops is a serious threat and become a important problem in the field of safe drinking water technology. On the base of removal effect study on the conventional treatment process, the effective removal technology of Cyclops combined with various of combination process and preoxidation was researched by improving and aggrandizing the treatment united, and then the removal project on Cyclops was obtained. The condition research of mass propagation was carried out from the ecological point, and the results show that the temperature was the protent of Cyclops boom, and it is an early warming of the boom time. On the other side, an number detection on live Cyclops was established with the potassium permanganate solution(0.03~0.04 mmol/L),and this was a powerful guarantee to the systematic and the reliability in the study. The removal study on the coagulation sedimentation unit combined with preoxidation was carried out. The results show that the ability to removal Cyclops of coagulation sedimentation unit was limited. Only when the chlorine with 2.0mg/L or chloramine with 2.0mg/L is selected combined with the coagulation and sedimentation, the 100% removal rate could be achieved. But the Cyclops activity and coagulant species have serious impacts on the removal effect. The iron salt coagulant can be used as removal Cyclops special coagulant for its larger and moderate density floc. The characteristics of Cyclops in each treatment unit and the distribution of Cyclops in filter columns was gained by experimental research in conventional treatment processes. Coagulation sedimentation unit is mainly used to remove the weaker activity Cyclops and the larger size individual, including the nauplii who easily flow with the water. The filter unit is a key unit to removing Cyclops and the filter pore size also influences removal result significantly. The distribution mechanism of Cyclops munber and size in filter column are related with filter pore size and hydraulic classification, and preoxidation can change the distributions. Chlorine, ozone and potassium permanganate composite (PPC) only have the capability removing Cyclops completely or partially in a short time. The Cyclops can be removed completely with suitable chloramine dosage by 2.0mg/L and 1:5 ratio of ammonia and chloride, but a large number Cyclops are found on the bottom of filter columns. The removal Cyclops pilot study was carried out with the combination process and preoxidation. The Cyclops removal efficiency and mechanism of combination processes was analyzed deeply. The air flotation unit removed Cyclops mainly depending on bubble-particle adhesion complexes and floating to the dross, had evident removal effect for the poorly swimming and large size Cyclops, and a part of nauplii. The filter unit mainly removed the Cyclops whose individual sizes are larger than 0.1mm depending on the filter retain effect. Actived carbon filter unit and the biological active carbon filter unit removed Cyclops depending mainly on filter retention effect, two units had obvious difference impact on Cyclops survival capacity because of the variety of number and strains.A set of safe, effective, practical and simple removal Cyclops technology programs was proposed based on a comprehensive summary of study results. A definite conclusion are showed as follows: for the lower density and activity Cyclops, coagulation-air flotation-filter- actived carbon filter joint technology was a suitable choice of removal; for the strengthened activity and density Cyclops, the chlorine preoxidation(3.0mg/L)-coagulation-air flotation-filter- actived carbon filter / biology- cal active carbon filter joint process was a better method; for largest density and activity Cyclops, the join progress was best choice combined with chloramine preoxidation (2.0mg/L and 1:1~1:6 ratio of ammonia and chloride)- coagulation-air flotation-filter- actived carbon filter.
