| Selection of photo-thermo sensitive genie male sterile(PTGMS) lines is the key factor for the successful utilization of two-line system hybrid rice, and is the center for two-line hybrid rice The main contents are as follows: it emphatically analyzed temperature effect for fertility, fertility transformation of Peiai64S(the most widely utilized PTGMS ) and Zheda247S(new PTGMS lately selected by our group) under the nature condition. Evaluated the fertility stability of some PTGMS by using the AMMI(additive main effects and multiplicative interaction )model while taking pollen fertility as the fertility index. Inquired into the effects of exogenous chemical compounds on the fertility of PTGMS(Indica). Studied on the inherits of the Xa21 transgenic Peiai64S and the performance of its crossing progeny . The main results are summarized below.1.Length of photoperiod has less effect on the fertility of Zheda247S and Peiai64S, while temperature is the main factor and they all belong to temperature-sensitive types, and the correlation of daily minimum temperature with the fertility was the most significant among daily mean temperature, daily max temperature and daily minimum temperature.. The temperature sensitive stage of Zheda247S and Peiai64S were 17~ 3 and 21-6 days before heading. The critical period of the fertility conversion is considerable different between years, while Zheda247S was 9/7/2000 and 9/19/2001, Peiai64S was 9/13/2000 and 9/25/2001 respectfully. The critical temperature, Zheda247S was 25.28*C and 25.74癈, Peiai64S was 25.66 *C and 25.79癈 in 2000 and 2001 respectfully. Under the nature condition of Hangzhou, Zheda247S can reproduce, while it is difficult for Peiai64S to reproduce.2. The genotype main effect for cytoplasm male sterile lines XueqingzaoA, Zhengshang97A and II-32A are all low, their fertility demonstrate stable, PTGMS MS12, MS5 and MS8 are higher than Peiai64S, on the contrary with MS6, MS7, MS9, MS 10, MSI 1, MSB, while MS5 is unstable sterile line. The main effect of sowing times for I, II, HI, IV, V, VI, and Vfl are near 0, DC, X, XI and XJ are high while Vffl is in the middle. Based on effect of genotype and genotype-environment interaction, cytoplasm male sterile lines XueqingzaoA, Zhengshang97A and II-32A are classified into first group, MS6, MS7, MS9and MS 10 into second group, MS 11, MS 13 and Peiai64S into third group, and MS 12, MS5 into forth group respectfully. The sowing times are also divided into four groups, I, II, ffl, IV, V, VI, and VII into first group , Vffl into second group, X, XI into third group , and XII into forth group and the environment effect of Xfl is high, the sterile lines is significantly affected by the environment.3. Difference of the combining ability is significant among parents, the additive effect is dominant for all measured traits. The general combining ability of R402 is best among restoring lines, while MS 12 and MS6 are the best, then Peiai64S among the sterile lines. The general combining ability of the most of the measured traits of the restoring lines is higher than that of sterile lines, and the restoring lines have significant effect on heterosis than sterile lines. There is significantly positive correlation between the standard heterosis of the combines and the general combining ability of the sterile lines, while there is no clear correlation between the standard heterosis of the combines and the specially combining ability of the sterile lines. The general combining ability and the specially combining ability of the traits are relative independent.4.
