Setting up 8 points, the wound healing process of rabbits was studied by using histochemistry and immunohistochemistry methods to observe the changes of neutrophils, fibroblasts and neuropeptides, cytokines, apoptosis factors, and other relating factors in the wound area. Honey's role was studied too by using it on the wound. The results are given as follows:Neutrophils have effects on the early stage of wound healing; fibroblasts are the main cell for wound repair; honey can promote the wound healing by its influence to neutrophils and fibroblasts.Substance P (SP) is not expressed much in normal skin of rabbit, but expressed much more after skin wounded. 5-hydrotrytamine (5-HT) isn't expressed very much before wounded, but expressed much more after wounded and to the highest 5 days after wounded. Calcitonin (CT) is little in normal skin. After wounded GT expression is high and sustains for about 20 days. Pancreatic polypeptid (PP) is more after wounded than before. Honey has influence on the expressions of PP, 5-HT, CT, and PP.There is no expression of TNF- a in normal skin, but TNF- a is much more after wounded. VEGF has the same changes as that of PP. Honey has obvious influence on TNF-a , but has no effect on VEGF.Apoptosis factor bcl-2 and capase-3 are very little in the skin before wounded, but become much more after wounded. Bcl-2 is in the highest expression 7 days after wounded and caspase-3 is highest 20 days after wounded. Honey can changes the expression of the two factors.The result shows that al-antitrypsin (AAT), CD45RO, CD5RA, lysozyme (LZM) and S-100 protein change during wound healing. After wounded, al-antitrypsin's expression increases and arrives the highest 10 days after; CD45RO and CD45RA positive cells increase too, lysozyme and S-100 protein have increasing tendency, and become the most 5 and 10 days after respectively.The present study suggested that the process of wound healing is a complicated process during which a lot of immune-relating factors anticipate. There are close relationships among those factors. Honey can promotes wound healing by affecting those factors.
