The determination of the yielding age is one of the key links for the management ofthe short-rotation timber plantation. From long ago, the determination of the age is mainlybased on the quality maturity and quantity maturity, less considering the other factors suchas economical factors in the cultivating course of the plantation. Up to now, we seldomcomprehensively consider the site condition of the tree cultivation, management measures,the utilization ways, interest rate, the production cost and the sustainability. Hence, thedetermination way of the yielding age is difficult to meet the demand of the scientificmanagement of the short-rotation timber plantation. So, it is necessary to make the relatedresearch from the corner of theory, technology and determination ways, and then to directthe practice. Based on the analyzing of the related research results at home and abroad, thisdissertation have studied the theory, technology and ways on the determination of theyielding age of the short-rotation timber plantation, and having made a practical analysisby selecting a actual short-rotation timber plantation as a sample.In theory, based on the analysis of the occurring and development, the connotationand characteristics, clarified the mechanism of maturity. the dissertation has raised theposition and role of the yielding age determination in the management activities of theshort-rotation timber plantation. Based on the analysis of the factors of influencing thematurity of the short-rotation timber plantation, the dissertation has defined the principlesand determination base and component parts of the determination of the rational yieldingage for the short-rotation timber plantation. Based on the cultivating goal and growing lawof the short-rotation timber plantation, the dissertation has raised the thought that, underthe direction of the thought of forest sustainable management, taking the quality maturityas the base, economic benefit as the goal, also consider the quantity maturity and otherfactors, comprehensively determine the rational yielding age of the short-rotation timberplantation.In technical ways, based on the raised thought and principals in terms of theory, thedissertation has discussed the general procedures and ways of determining the rationalyielding age of the short-rotation timber plantation, putting the thinking train and ways ofcomprehensive decision based on the combination of qualitative analysis and quantitativeanalysis and the single maturely factor analysis. In order to meet the rational selectionunder different space and time conditions, the dissertation has structured the model systemof analysis, evaluation, and determination of the factors of influencing the determination ofthe rational yielding age of the short-rotation timber plantation, including site condition,density, quality and quantity of the stands, economy etc, and discussed the related usingprincipals and ways, and the structure of the comprehensive determination of the rationalyielding age.Based on the related system discussion, selected the U6 and W5 stands in LeizhouForest Bureau as the samples and according to the determined comprehensive dynamicmodel, the dissertation has calculated the rational yielding age under different conditions ofsite condition, stand density, utilization ways and the interest rate etc. Also the concepthave been proposed that the rational yielding age are in dynamic and inter-area other than apoint.To increasing the benefit, the concept of timber utilization according to their class hasbeen proposed for the management of short-rotation timber plantation.At last, based on the results, the dissertation discussed the main problems in the studyof the rational yielding age determination of the short-rotation timber plantation.
