Study On The Theory And Application Of Building Ecological Gardening Cities

As loading media of civilization of human beings, social and economic development, cities are highly concentrated areas of population, industries, capital, productivity, science and technology. In consequence, cities are both the core area of regional economic activities and focus areas with varied problems and contradictions. Social and economic development in urban areas have brought about many of the problems such as explosive increase of population, housing shortage, traffic congestion, environmental pollution and sharp reduction of cropland and other non-renewable resources. Immense pressures and critical challenges are being faced by all urban ecosystems in the world, and building of sustainable, landscaping ecological cities where man and the nature coexist harmoniously has become the inevitable choice and inexorable pursuit.The dissertation is basically composed of two sections, i.e., corresponding principles related to landscaping ecological cities and a case study on application of these principles.Firstly, the relevant theories and models proposed and achievements of the related studies by former researchers were summarized in the first section. Secondly, the characteristics of landscaping ecological cities, the theoretical bases and fundamental principles for building landscaping ecological cities were discussed, and the theoretical and practical significance of building landscaping ecological cities in China were elaborated. It was believed that the landscaping ecological cities should be further developed and superior models of ecological cities, taking theories of landscape ecology and sustainable development as the theoretical foundations.Proceeding from the realities and successful experiences of both domestic and abroad in building the ecological cities, it was believed in that building of landscaping ecological cities should take considerations not only to the ecological balance and healthy cycling of the urban ecosystem, but also to creating profound culture and artistic intension; building landscaping ecological cities ought to play a very important and active role in promoting comprehensive...
