A total of 46 elite accessions were selected out from 212 barley accessions from Xizang and Sichuan province, China, by using agronomic characters and protein contents. The genetic variations of the excellent materials were analyzed by using APAGE, RAPD, RAMP and ISSR markers. Three coding sequences of LMW-GS genes were isolated and characterized from H. brevisubulatum ssp. turkestanicum Nevski accession Y0695, and three coding sequences of B hordein gene were isolated and characterized from Hordeum vulgare ssp agriocrithon accession ZYM0834. The results were described as following:1 , Higher genetic variations were detected on the agronomic characters and proteincontents of 212 tested materials. The period of growth varied from 138 to 199d, the plant height varied from 61.2 to 140.5cm, the spikes per plant ranged from 3 to 16, the spike length ranged from 3.9 to 17.8cm, the spikelet numbers per spike were from 16 to 30, the grains per spike varied from 20 to 97, the 1000-grains weight changed from 21.8 to 59.1g, the grains weight per spike ranged from 0.5 to 2.9g, and the protein contents varied from 9.80 to 22.14%. According to these main characters, 46 core accessions were screen out for one or some elite agronomic performances.2,The partial correlation coefficients among protein contents and agronomiccharacters of 212 tested materials were analyzed. The significant positive correlations were found between the spikes per plant and the spike length, and between the spikelet numbers per spike and the grains weight per spike, whereas negative significant partial correlations were found between the period of growth and the 1000-grains weight, and between the spike length and the grains per spike. A poor correlations were found among the other characters.3, The genetic diversity of hordein among 46 elite accessions of barley, including 27 endemic cultivated and 19 wild relatives barley from Xizang, China, was investigated by using A-PAGE. A total of 46 hordein patterns were obtained from...
