Pomegranate is one of ancient fruit trees in the Central Asia and native to Iran,Afghanistan etc.,which had already been cultivated more than 2000 years in our country, andhad formed a great deal of cultivars. However, the cultivar resources haven't been investigatedfar clearly, and the cultivar authenticating exists not a few confusion, and a great deal oftogether a foreign body and together a phenomenon of thing, so this research to pomegranate inChina are carried on still with the traditional classic classification method, simultaneity, adoptthe RAPD member marking technique and the quantity classification method to carry on theclassification to cultivar research.1,After two years investigation of cultivar resources of pomegranate, the basal cultivarsresources have been checked and 87 cultivars could be made sure currently, the appearanceform of each cultivar have been descript detail, the standard cultivar stub have been planted andfiles also have been built up, and 64 cultivars have been gathered in Hefei botanical garden.2,Based on the research on the appearance of pomegranate standard stub, discussions havebeen done, the results show that flower petal, flower color, fecundity, fruit color, fruit size andquantity were taken as the main basis, and the characters of the seed soft or hard, shape of calyxtube, new leaf's color, caulis stab etc. could be taken as second basis.3,On the foundation of the above-mentioned work, the ways of cultivar formation andmain appearance characteristics were analyzed in this paper, abide by《International Code ofNomenclature for Cultivated Plant》and the regulation of cultivar evaluation, the cultivarclassification were discussed, the cultivar formation of pomegranate belonging to the same typeof species was putted forward, the Group and Cultivar systems were built up, cultivarsaccording to the flower petal were divided into 4 groups, the difference is for Danban Group (69),Fuban Group (4), Chongban Group (10), Taige Group (4), and the primal system of thepomegranate cultivar classification have been built up.4,Abide by ICNCP, 31 pomegranate cultivars had synonym phenomena, 67 different syn.were dealt with and mergered, and 11 new cultivars were recorded, 2 in Danban Group, 4 in FubanGroup, 1 in Chongban Group, 4 in Taige Group; In accordance with the established cultivarclassification, 53 pomegranate cultivars, which had been published but not been investigated,were preliminary discussed.5,Under the same cultivation condition, the same age of each cultivar, and the samesampling method, 37 pomegranate cultivars, which had achieved the mature, were carried onexperiment measurement and analyses of quality. That is important complement for file recordof pomegranate cultivar, and preliminary evaluation were carried on to the above-mentionedcultivars combined the improved cultivar standard of pomegranate. 6,The genetic relationship of 64 pomegranate cultivars were studied by means ofnumerical taxonomic method. The results showed: use the method of Within-groups linkage,the pomegranate cultivars classification can be divide into three groups, such as Danban andFuban Group,Chongban Group,Taige Group,which can be in accordance with the classifiedway applying on the appearance,use the method of UPGMA, can also divide the cultivars intoDanban Group,Chongban Group,Taige Group; two methods can both support the relativenear species of species to come together; When using UPGMA method to 46 cultivars,demonstrated the flower color is an extremely important character, and the same flower colorgathers together, which supported that the flower color is the second degree standard ofclassification at the appearance.7,Using RAPD member mark to 55 pomegranate cultivars, the results showed that, RAPDanalyzing support basically the pomegranate cultivar classified based on the flower petal, theChongban Group and Taige Group were explaining together they have the similar origin in thecultivar characteristic, but in each group all has the different cultivar (white, red, pink flowerpetal), which has the conflict with classified standard that taken the flower color as the secondlevel, simultaneously the RAPD analysis did not completely support the method of cultivarclassification by sour, sour and sweet and sweet.
