Study On The Cutivar Resources Investigation And Cultivar Classification Of Wintersweet In NanJing

Wintersweet(Chinmonanthus praecox Link),the special plant of China,has huge values;now,the varieties of cultivar were far more than the varieties recorded,and diffrient cultivar classification principles exist,therefor,it effects the application of wintersweet; wintersweet cultivars in nanjing are comprehensively identified and revised with detailed description and verified in this paper,aiming at establishing a rational cultivar classification principle.the main results are summarized as follows:1. According to ICNCP, cultivar names of wintersweet recorded were verified and reorganized, some redecessor's errors were clarified, 5 cultivar names were corrected.2. On the basis of the investigation and observation of morphological characteristics of wintersweet in nanjing,and the earlier research achievements of cultivar classification principles and criteria were presented in this paper, 87cultivars of wintersweet were described in this paper, 30 cultivars were described as new,5 cultivars were corrected and recorded.3. A quantitative taxonomic study was conducted on cultivars of Chimonanthus praecox,using cluster analysis ,the results consistenting with the traditional classification system,The selected 14 morphological characters of 45 cultivars were investigated.The results showed the length of the middle whorl of tepals and the purple texture of the inner whorl of tepals were important characters,this paper suggested that the purple texture of the inner whorl of tepals should be used to divide Chimonanthus praecox cultivar group. the purple texture of the inner whorl of tepals are considered as the first grade criterion,the result is almost same as it received with the traditional categorized method.4. discussing the existing Cultivar classification principles of wintersweet and combining the results of morphology research and the numerical taxonomy research in this paper,The cultivar classification principles were carried out.this paper divided into 3 groups : Concolor Group,Intermedius Group,Patens Group。5. On the basis of the diversities of purple texture of the inner whorl of tepals ,flower colour,flower type, the length of the middle whorl of tepals beween wintersweet cultivars, identification key was complied for the 87 cultivars of nanjing for further research and application of wintersweet.
