Haplosporidian, Mikrocytos, Marteilia are protozoan parasites, which mostly infect marine bivalves. These diseases can cause high mortalities of bivalves and heavy loss of possession. Many of overseas scholars have attached importance to these protozoon parasites. But it still belongs to the blank in this aspect in China. The primary object of this research is to investigate the diseases (described above) of marine bivalves include Crassostrea gigas, Crassostrea ariakensis, Crassostrea plicatula, Patinopecten yessoensis, Chlamys farreri, Argopecten irradians, Mytilus gallprovincialis, and Perna viridis from China' coasts. The main conclusions obtained are listed as follows:Haplosporidium nelsoni (MSX) was detected in the Pacific oyster, C. gigas from Dalian (Liaoning Province), Dongying, Laizhou, Changdao, Rongcheng, Rizhao (Shandong Province), Leqing (Zhejiang Province) and P. yessoensis from Dalian. The parasite mostly infects C. gigas, and it is not found in other oyster species. MSX is mainly identified in the Bohai Sea and northern coasts of the Yellow Sea, at the northern latitudes between 28°and 40°. Haplosporidium costale (SSO) was detected in C. gigas from Dalian, Dongying, Laizhou, Changdao and Rizhao. The parasite mostly distributes in the Bohai Sea and northern coasts of the Yellow Sea, at the northern latitudes between 34°and 40°. Infection mixed with MSX and SSO was found in these sites. A multiplex PCR method was applied to detect these two pathogens.Mikrocytos sp. was detected in C. gigas from Dalian and Changdao, P. yessoensis from Dalian, and C. farreri from Changdao. The range of distribution of the parasite is restricted in local areas.Marteilia sp. was detected in M. gallprovincialis from Dalian, Jinzhou (Liaoning Province), Changli (Hebei Province), Changdao and Taizhou (Zhejiang Province). It seems possible that the parasite is a new species. This parasite distributes in Bohai Sea.
