Under the horizon of embodied mind, use the method of logic and linguistics to study the meta-theory of water in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as well as use the method of hermeneutics to analyze chapter jaundice, to know etiology, classification and treatment of Jaundice. Both of these researches can make us know the embodied mind characteristics of TCM theory. This article will discuss from two parts as follows:The first part is about water theory in TCM based on metaphor cognition. There are two sections in this part. In section A, theories like conceptual metaphor, logic and structure mapping theory etc. are used to analyze meta-theory of water. Through these theories we found that body fluid metabolism is the circulation of nature water that is a metaphorical expression, which means that the water metabolism of TCM was metaphorically derived through analogism in accordance with the structure of circulation of nature water. From the view of water cycle of nature, this could better explain function of spleen and lung in TCM. Functions of some organs are summarized through analogical reasoning which the theory related to circulation of nature water in TCM has feature of embodied cognition. Section B is about analysis of water metabolism based on family resemblance theory. This part aims at the definition of "Water" of five-elements in construction, including the resemblances and relationship among members. Moreover, we apply family resemblance model developed from the German philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein to identify the major members:water, north, winter, black, salty and kidney. It is perceivable that the water family is summarized by the feature of component. Then these characteristics are given to members of the family. TCM theoretical system applied five-elements theory, the knowledge related to function of kidney was probably assigned through characteristics of Water family. The second part is focusing on the discourse analysis of chapter jaundice. According five parts of jaundice, effect of Gadamer’s hermeneutic horizon fusion, the historical consciousness, Ricoeur’s metaphor analysis, etc. could be combined with the method provided by the Fu Weixun’s "creative hermeneutics" to interpret the chapter of jaundice into the following six fields:a. What this chapter said, that is to say, what the author said. The aim is to understand the literal meaning of text b. Why the author said that. The aim is to explore the cognitive source of text c. Analyzing and concluding that the implicit knowledge or the other aim of this article d. Supplementing content involved in but not been discussed e. What are the doubts or mistakes with that? Exploring the connotation and principle based on the existing interpretation f. The modern clinical guidance of this chapter was contributed by interpreting this classic.Hermeneutics in TCM theory is used to explain human physiology, pathology, pharmacology, etc. In the process of interpretation, the embodiment of TCM is reflected. In this paper, from the view of cognitive science, I have given the contrast analysis of the differences about efficacy and property among TCM, Mongolian and Tibetan medicine, and the differences about pharmacological effects between modern pharmacology and TCM, as well as cognitive differences among the different ages about ephedra in the theoretical system of TCM. Accordingly, cognitive style of TCM is of embodiment, while the language of TCM is metaphorical. We get the internal structure and logical rules by the hermeneutic back stepping. "View its pulse and symptoms, know what suffers inverse, revise it with symptoms for treating" is the process of treatment of TCM. The syndrome differentiation and treatment process of the interpretation of jaundice article was analyzed by the thinking of public announcement, abductive reasoning, and dynamic logic and to acquire the reasoning model for Zhang Zhongjing’s syndrome differentiation and treatment.
