A Hemi-sectioned spinal cord injury (hSCI) manifests itself in sequard's syndrome .In order to explore to its pathogenesis and recovery process and to work out the relationship between its pathological ,bilochemical, molecule and genetic changes,the present study proposed to make a model for the hSCI on the basis of the descriptions made by professor XU Shaoting:made hemi-section of the 5th to 7th section of the cervical spinal cord and the 8th to 11th section of the thoracic spinal cord(the scalpel was inserted into the central crevice of the spinal cord.Then it went from the central tube to the front crevice, and cut horizontally in the firrst place.Half of the horizontally cut part was taken as the research object).After the operation.the tissue changes were subjected to observations at different time,and the obs were recordedaccordingly.Findings:Degeneration and necrosis of the far end of the lateral cord and the nerves of the substance grisaille of the hemi-sectioned part of spinal cord were detected by light microscope was of sognificance to make assessment for different study group and sham-operated group at 24 hours and 1 week after the operation(P<0.05).further ,the ventral horn's motor neuron group,the fact of the rat.Conclusion:Since the model of the hemi-sectioned cervical spinal cord was follow by a low mortality rat,it was able to be regarded as a reliable apporach.The present experiment adopted an immunohistochemical detecting method to sort out the changing distribution of the endothelin-1 at different point of time after the injury appeared.
