Part1Assessment of LV Global and Regional Function with Cine MR Imaging in Healthy Adults Aged Over 55 YearsObjective To establish a qualitative database of LV global and regional functionparameters with Cine-MRI for healthy adults aged over 55. Materials and Methods 55clinically healthy subjects aged over 55 were examined on 1.5T GE MR scanner. Cineimages showing 3 normal or slightly atherosclerotic branches of coronary artery onCMRA were analyzed. Horizontal long axis, short axis and vertical long axis cine imageswere obtained with FIESTA sequences each. LV wall was divided into 17 segments intaking cardiac imaging as recommended by AHA in 2001 for reference, each showinghomogeneous wall thickness, coordinate systolic and diastolic movement without activityweakened. Endo- and epi- myocardial membranes were depicted manually, and globaland regional function parameters were measured by Medis MASS Analysis+ software. The mean, standard deviation (Sd) and 95% normal ranges were calculated using STATA7.0 statistical software, for each parameter. The sex variation was tested, and segmentswere analyzed integratingly according to the regional parameters. Results The mean, Sd,95% normal ranges of LV global function (EDV, ESV, SV, EF, EDM, ESM) and regionalfunction (WTED, WTES, WT%, WM) were obtained for both men and women. Sexvariation was detected in SV, mass and wall thickness. 17 segments were integrated into8 segments: the LV wall, interventricular septum in basal slice and mid cavity, anteriorwall, lateral inferior wall and septal in apex, and apical cap. Conclusion Qualitativedatabase of LV global and regional function parameters for healthy adults aged over 55with Cine-MRI are established. From results of regional function parameters, LV wallcan be divided into 8 anatomical segments, providing easy, reliable reference for researchand clinical work.
