| Under the guidance of Professor Ding Shuwen , together with the knowledge on both basic theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern Medicine as well as through the exploration of the relationships of constitutional make up factor; emotional factor; modern lifestyle and hypertension, the author put forward a pathogenesis hypothesis of pathogenic heat damage on the collaterals in hypertension. The author formulated a preparation QinReJiangYa mixture which is used to purge the liver fire and to sooth the heart as well as to clean away heat and toxic material. The preparation was then used to observe it's clinical effect on level 1 or 2 of hypertensive patents with early stage of damage to kidney, using "Niuhuang Jiangya Wan"(Calculus Bovis Bolus for lowering blood pressure) as the control preparation. Result reviewed: The study group has archived a good result in lowering the blood pressure, improving the 24hour dynamic blood pressure, improving the signs and symptoms, reversing the enlargement of the left ventricle and dysfunction of relaxation of the left atrium, lowering the urine microprotein, urine enzyme, Urine ET , improving the blood circulation to the myocardium, adjusting the cholesterol level, decreasing the glucose level, etc. Most of the results are better than those of the control group. Conclusion: Pathogenic heat is the most important pathogenesis in hypertension, where as purging the liver fire together with soothing the heart as well as clearing away heat and toxic material are the most important treating method. The protection of the renal blood vessel might be the mechanism that leads to prominent effect of lowering blood pressure using QinReJiangYa mixture as well as the better protection of the early stage of damage to kidney. This research has put up a new thought in treating hypertension in Traditional Chinese Medicine by putting forward the idea of a pathogenesis hypothesis of pathogenic heat damaging on the collaterals in hypertension.
