Recent evidence indicates that bone marrow contains stem cells (mesenchymal stem cells) with the potential to differentiate into a variety tissues, including bone, cartilage, fat, tendon, muscle, etc. Many researches show that MSCs acts very well as seeding cells in skin tissue engineering to repair skin defect in animal models by autotransplantation or allotransplantation into immunodeficiency animals. It may be possible that MSCs can migrate to wounds during the course of wound healing. So, can MSCs differentiate to epidermal cells? Does MSCs play a role during burn wound healing process? In this research, we succeed in isolating, cultivating and purifying murine mesenchymal stem cells by using magnetic beads. Besides, we also demonstrate analogic skin microenvironment can induce MSCs differentiating to epidermal cells in vitro and murine mesenchymal stem cells may play a role in burn wound healing in vivo.
