The free transplantation of lateral thoracic flap (L.T.F.) has been applying to plastic surgery in domestic as well as in abroad more than ten years. The results of treatment have been satisfactory. Especially, it has advantages to be superior to other free flaps on the reconstruction of faciocervical defects. The author has historically reviewed the development and has overall summarized the study of anatomy and clinical progresses as concerns L.T.F.."By means of applied anatomic literatures, there are many origins of cutaneous arteries, dissociations and high difficulties in operation at L.T.F. area. It isn't sufficient only depending on these knowledge for us to perform on the operations.Hence, based on above data and information, we have just closely combined the Doppler supersonic flow-meter with the operative procedure to survey and to measure the lengths, the diameters of blood vessels in this area. Our study attempt both to discovery the variant regular patterns, of the vascularity and to provide requisite standard through the viviperception for the pedicle choice of the flap, which will meet the demands of theclinical operation. After 21 patients had received the operations , our reseach-ing results showed that the subscapular- thoracodorsal vascular system (SSA-TDA)is the most constant among the three blood vessels systems. Its average length are equal to 15.43...
