Background and Objective: Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) are the most important stem cells, which participate in the vasculogenesis in the early stage of embryo development. Because EPCs have active proliferation ability and vasculogenesis ability independent of vascular endothelial cells (ECs), they are ideal cell supplies for stem cells transplantation in promoting vasculogenesis, especially for the old patients or the patients with diabetes or hyperlipomia, whose response to the cells/growth factors is low due to impairment of ECs. But the ECs transplantation is an individual treatment for the limit source of cells. There are a relative small number of cells even culturing cells in vitro. Therefore, promotion of the bioactivity of the ECs with interfering methods in vitro is a key step in improving their therapeutic functions. Recent researches show that the microenvironment is more important than the stem cells themselves in determining their fate. The changes of the microenvironment may play a pivotal role in the directed differentiation of the stem cells, but may have a side effect on their proliferation and functions. Unfortunately researchers have not paid much attention to the double effects. Other researchers point out there are multi-...
