1. Background Cervical cancer(CC) is the one of the most frequent malignant tumor in women. There are 510 000 new cases of CC and 288 000 women lose their lives to the disease per year worldwide. Eighty one percent of incidence and eighty three percent of mortality occur in developing countries. The incidence of CC is highly endemic. According to the standardized incidence rate, all the parts of the world are divided into three different regions: the high incident region, the middle incident region, and the low incident region. China belongs to the low incident region. The new cases of CC occurred in our country account for one third of all the new cases in the world per year because of the abundance of population in our country. The risk factors of CC include multi-sexual partner, young age at first coitus, young age at first marriage, increased parity, unsanitary conditions in menstrual phase, smoking, infection of chlamydia trachomatis, herpes simplex virus and HPV (human papillomavirus, HPV) , etc. Among all the risk factors of CC, a great deal of evidences have confirmed that HPV is the main risk factor of CC. For example, the case control studies conducted by IARC (international agency for research on cancer, IARC) in Philippines, Spain, Columbia revealed that the OR value of HPV infection to CC ranged from 18 to 200.The spectrum of disedaes caused by HPV infection is wide, which ranges from damages of molecular and genic level, cellulor and tissular lesions, to condyloma and cervical cancer.
