The first part: Establishment of PVL animal model of newborn rat and observation of brain pathological changes by light and electronic microscopyObjective:To establish PVL (periventricular leukomalacia) animal model of the 2 day-old SD rats and to observe the brain pathological and ultrastructural changes.Methods:The 2 day-old SD rats were randomly divided into seven experimenmtal PVL groups and seven control groups. The experimenmtal PVL groups were subjected to unilateral carotid ligation (UCL), and then they were put into a box filled with 6% oxygen and 94% nitrogen for 4 hours. Meanwhile sham surgeries were performed on the control groups that were exposed to normoxic air during the experimental period.
