Studies On Knowledge, Attitude And Practice Of STDs And Status Of Health Psychology In Prostitutes

BackgroundSTDs has become one of the most protuding social problems nowadays. Sex workers were blamed for the role of transmitted and epidemic of STDs. It had been difficult to carry out epidemiology study in prostitutes because of their afloating and hunting. There was high morbidity of STDs. The characters of demology, occupations, and diseases among the prostitutes, relevant to psychology health should be taken into consideration. The problems are as follows according to reports concerned: There has been less systemic study on knowledge, attitude and practice of STDs in the light of description research, still lack of substantiative biological index in relevant survey and, there was no report on intervening methods to improve their psychological health when much attention had been paid to the KAP on STDs prevention. With the help of modern medical model and KAP theory, this study is to aim the problems mentioned above in order to probe new models of improving physical and mental health of prostitutes.Objectives1. To describe the characteristics of demology, status of preventive knowledge, attitude to STDs as well as practice of STDs among the prostitutes, in order to provide perfect and systemic data of epidemiology, to probe protective effects of condom use by means of detection of seven pathogenic mycoplasmas.2. To probe status of SAS, SDS and characters of EPQ and their putative factors among prostitutes. To probe the health levels of the prostitutes with Self-Rating Health Measurement. To probe relationship between 5--HTT stin2 polymorphism and SAS primarily. To probe effects on physical and mental health among prostitutes when STDs health education and intervening methods are obtained.Methods1. 355 prostitutes were from center of prostitute detention and education in Jiangsu Province, and 208 controls were female workers of shopping centers and restaurant from the same city.2. Prevalence study was carried out by using SAS, SDS, SRHMS, and EPQ while 170 prostitutes as intervening objects.
