A Theoretical Study On Professor Liu-Shen-Lin' Spleen And Stomach Theory

The thesis is composed of four parts, which preliminarily summarized theprofessor Liu-shen-lin' spleen and stomach theory, based on the exploring the originof the spleen and stomach theory.In the first part, the author reviewed the origin of the spleen and stomach.《Huang-Di-Nei-Jing》gave a compact base for the theory of spleen and stomachwhich discussed the anatomy, physiological functions, pathobiology, diagnosis andtreatment of the spleen and stomach. In《Shanghan-Zaibinglun》,Zhang-zhong-jingformulated a series of schema and prescription of the spleen and stomachtheory,based on the theory of《Huang-Di-Nei-Jing》. Li-dong-yuan set up the theoryof spleen and stomach and wrote the book named "pi-wei-lun". In this book, heexplained that the harm of stomach shall cause a lot of diseases, expounded thepathogenesis of stomach and spleen and established the princinple of treatment and aseries of prescription, which made a great progress in the theory of spleen andstomach. Ye-tian-shi standed for the separate treatment of spleen and stomach .Heemphasized on the "fluid of stomach" and set up the theory of "fluid of stomach". Headvocated the method of nourishing of the fluid of stomach, which replenish thetheory of spleen and stomach.Based on impart of advisor, The second part is summary of professorLiu-sheng-lin' theory of spleen and stomach including the differentiation of symptomsand signs,prescription and treatment. The differentiation of symptoms and signs ispneuma of TCM. Professor Liu deemed that the differentiation of symptoms andsigns is a basis and we shall integrate the differentiation of disease. Thedifferentiation of symptoms and signs shall emphasize on the glossoscopy,yin-yang,excess and deficiency,chills and fever,QI-blood,accompanied symptomsand signs. By the treatment, we shall give more consideration on stomach and spleen;adjust the ascending of spleen and the descending of stomach. By treating the diseaseof spleen we shall emphasize on warming and ascending, while treating the disease ofstomach we shall emphasize on the cleaning and descending. In this thesis, the authordiscussed the method of invigorating the spleen,supporting the Yang nourishing fluidacrid-open and bitter-descending,which the advisor preferred very much. Byreinforcing deficiency we shall invigorate the spleen, while pruning don't forget toprotect the function of stomach.. From aspect of theory and clinical treatment, theauthor discussed the method of supporting the Yang, whose effect will like it that sunin the sky and the fog shall vanish soon. The method of nourishing fluid of stomachemphasized on medicine which were sweet, cool and moist. The method ofacrid-open and bitter-descending means combination of frigidity and heat, which simultaneously applicated purging-tonifying therapy.The third part is an advisor' summary of treating on chronic gastritis, chronicdiarrhea, gut tumor and damp-heat syndrome. By treating the chronic gastritis weshall not prune a bit thick. By the cases of deficit of Yin we shall nourish the fluid,while by the cases with stagnated blood we shall promoting blood flow. In treating ofchronic diarrhea we shall emphasize on the reinforcing the Yang on spleen and givemore consideration on liver and spleen. By the treating of gut tumor we shall integratethe method of TCM and modern medicine, while we shall dispelling dampness bytreat the disease of damp-heat syndrome.In the fourth part, the author introduced some medical records of advisor andgives a detailed analysis of the method of invigorating the spleen, supporting theYang, nourishing the Ying, combination of frigidity and heat.
