Li Shen And His Poetic Studies

The article is a thematic studies on Li-shen and his poetry,who was a famous new Yuefu poet and important political figure in middle-Tang. The preface briefly introduce a contribution of Li-Shen to Chinese ancient poems, under the transformation consciousness of middle-Tang’s literature.and described the current research situation.significance and methods on the article.The article has seven chapters.The first chapter expound his biography.experience and thought.First of all,questioned the family status of Li-Shen that he self-proclaimed he was the old royal of Lee in Shan-dong,and believed that he was born of the ordinary family.The next, based on the research of Li Shen’s birth,briefly narrnated his main life in four stages, outlined its specific tract. Finally, from his Confucian thought,the article analyzed Li-shen’s personality pursuit at several aspects, as well as the social and political ideals building on the basis of Confucian thought.The second chapter,investigated the main communion of Li-shen.He has certain contact with the important poets and political figures at that times.Firstly, the most intimate friends were Yuan-zhen and Bai-juyi, they Co-sponsored the new Yuefu campagin,and formed the life-long friendship.The secondly,Liu-yuxi and Han-yu,although they has a little of ommunion with Li-shen,from it we can observed the delicate relationship between the poets.The lastly,Pei-du and Jiang-fang,one was the guidance and another was be leaded by Li-shen,you may see some of his political viewpoint and guidance to younger talent form it. The third chapter, investigated the relationship between Li-shen and Niu-Li factions.Choosing three political events, Imperial examination case in Changqing first year.Factions between Li-shen and Li-fengji in Changqing years,Case about Wu-xiang, those had important influence to the middle-Tang politics. After distinguish the historical data,has a concrete understanding and analysis to his standpoint and attide, clarified some of the people’s prejudices and misunderstandings to he in the history books.The article has an idea that his behavior in party factions is not entirely out of selfishness,but mainly for the nation and imperial government,only has some extreme behavior.The fourth chapter, mainly expounded Li-shen’s contribution to the new Yuefu campagin in middle-Tang. First of all, confirmed he was a real new Yuefu poet, then trace to its source, inferring the eight lost poetry title of Twenty new Yuefu poetry. And the article try to restored the theme, so,we can had a complete understanding about Twenty new Yuefu poetry. According to the above, the article analysis Li-shen’s contribution to the new Yuefu compign at two aspects. The fifth chapter expounded the main learning subjects of Li-shen’s poetry. First of all, under the influence of pursuit new changes and restore the QiLiang poetic style,Li-shen imitated the Six Dynastyies poets,specially QiLiang poets,such as He-xun,Wu-jun,Xiao-gang,Qiu-chi,Xie-huilian,Bao-zhao.At the same time,he also learned from the senior outstanding poets,such as Du-fu,Wei-yingwu,and the other poets of DaLi era.In a word, his poetry diaplayed a variety of styles and pursued multiple characteristics. The sixth chapter, analysed the content of Lishen’s poetry collection, who namded it Zhuixiyouji.Form his psychology of recalling the past, the collecting mainly reflected his four kinds of emotion:grievances and resentment;sorrow and anxious; satisfaction and display;leisure and self-complacent.The seventh chapter made an Analysis on style change of Li-shen’s poetry. His early poetry,whatever Yuefu poems, narrative poems,or chanting poems, all has a easy to understand and plain characteristic. After relegating Duanzhou, the change of social environment, position and personal feelings, result in graceful and elegant on content, pursuit of artistic skill, neat and careful form, harmony and smooth tuner.The appendix one re-scheduled the biographical chronology of Li-shen, supplemented many historical data, also revised some of the previous corruption. The appendix two has a test and distinguishes to Li-shen’poems. The appendix three was a special study about two poems of Gufeng, such as the argument about the writter, the time of creation,the background.
