The Important Of China's Early Films - Wings

The Yihua Film Company was excellent in so many early Chinese film companies. This company produced a lot of films which included some competitive products in its almost10years process. From the position of the Left-Wing Films to the stronghold of the Soft Films, to the important point of entertainment in the period of "isolated island", the Yihua Film Company witnessed and reflected the variety and complexity of the early Chinese movie. However, the study about the Yihua Film Company was inadequate from a long time because of the limit of the view of film history and the deficient film data. Today, there has not one research work about the Yihua Film Company except finite investigation in some work of Chinese film history.Therefore, this paper works to study the Yihua Film Company on an overall basis from the microscopic point of view, return to history scene and describe the process, management, film producing, publishing and showing of the Yihua Film Company through collecting plentiful papery data and researching penetratingly, trying to analyze the films from all angles and cognize the variety and complexity of the Chinese movie from1932to1942. Moreover, this paper trying to redetermine the history status of the Yihua Film Company and its proprietors and seek the significance of the Yihua Film Company for today’s Chinese movies.This paper is comprised of six chapters, the introduction, the conclusion and the appendix. The introduction clarifies the significance of the topic, comprehensive status review of related researches home and abroad, the main methods, the keystone and difficult point of this paper’s research, and the innovation of this study.The first and second chapter research from the aspect of film industry. The first chapter captures and clarifies the development paths of the Yihua Film Company on the basis of plentiful data, divides the process of the Yihua Film Company to three periods:the initial stage, the middle stage, and the late stage. This chapter analyzes and commentate the important events in every period above-mentioned. The second chapter inspects the operating characteristic of the Yihua Film Company, which including its capital source, organization, production, distribution and showing, and its advantages and disadvantages on management.From chapter Ⅲ to chapter Ⅴ, the paper researches the aesthetic style and genre exploration of the Yihua Film Company’s films. The third chapter outlines the Left-Wing Films of the Yihua Film Company, exemplifies the creationgs of Tian Han, Yang-Hansheng, and Shi-Dongshan, and explores their different creative characters through analyzing their films one by one.The fourth chapter trying to evaluate the Soft Films of the Yihua Film Company equitably, research its achievements and defects on genre exploration from the aspects of musical film, comedy movie, detective film, affectional film and ethical film.The fifth chapter introduces the film production of the Yihua Film Company in the period of "isolated island". Through analyzing some typical films, this paper discloses the subtle relationship between films and political environment and the acceptance psychology of audience, in order to disclose the vague things which was covered by the mainstream ideology and nationalistic discourse.The sixth chapter researches the Yihua Film Company from the aspect of culture. This chapter discloses the suppressed cultural ideal and intricate cultural characteristic of the Yihua Film Company, analyses deep the complex cultural features in its filma, and cognizes the variety and complexity of the Chinese movie from1932to1942.The conclusion inspects the Yihua Film Company in the history scene of1930s, trying to determine its history status fairly through comparing with four other companies including "Mingxing","Lianhua","Tianyi" and "Xinhua". This part sums up the contribution of the Yihua Film Company for the development of early Chinese movie without avoiding the personal stains of its proprietors, and investigates the significance of its advantages and disadvantages on management for today’s Chinese movie industries.The appendix includes:the important events of the Yihua Film Company, the films of the Yihua Film Company, and the film showing of the Yihua Film Company in Shanghai’s movie theaters.
