Mongolian Buddhist engraving in the Qing Dynasty played an important role in Buddhist engraving of the time as a bright pearl. Its abundant contents, various forms and numerous types not only enriched the Buddhist engraving of the Qing Dynasty but enhanced Mongolian Buddhist engraving to an unprecedented level in the case of its quantity, quality, spread, artistic standard and influence. It is the product of the multi-culture communications between Mongolian native culture and the ones of other nations, which has a lasting impact on the cultures of the neighboring nations, countries and regions.The first chapter is mainly on the development and influence of Mongolian Buddhist engraving in the Yuan Dynasty and Ming Dynasty, the Mongolian contributions to the statue carving arts and graphic arts in the Qing Dynasty, its abundant contents and various forms as well as its growth in the Qing Dynasty. Chapter two focuses on the origin and development of Mongolian folk Buddhist engraving in the Qing Dynasty, and its varieties, contents, religious functions features as well as the reasons for its popularity. Chapter three expounds the varieties and features of the Mongolian ink-engraving Tangka in the Qing Dynasty, and analyses its image relationship to Tangka, its image spread function and influence on Tangka of the Qing Dynasty. Chapter four discusses the system development of Buddha statues of Tibetan Buddhism in the Qing Dynasty, and introduces the origin of the illustration version of Mongolian Ganzhuer. In addition, the discovery process of the vermilion-engraving illustrations of Mongolian Ganzhuer in Beijing is expounded, which puts an emphasis on its high value as an important image document. Meanwhile, the image origin and features of illustration engraving and their great influence on the imperial arts of the Qing Dynasty are analyzed in the chapter.
