Throughout the history of novels in Korea and Chinese, a variety of no vel schools and concepts appeared in its long course of development and ev olution. Especially since the Modern Age, the western modern creation meth ods and literature ideological trends such as the Enlightenment, Realism, Ro manticism, and Modernism rushed in under the influence of the West Learni ng, which accelerated the transformation and modernization steps of novels in these two countries, respectively leading to the prosperity with distinctive features. The Chinese New Sensational School and the Korean "Goo-In-Hoe" Novels attract many audiences and researchers owing to their unique morph ology characteristics.Since the turning of the 19th century to the 20th century, the Modernis m which is imported from the west had already affected the two countries’ 1 iterature. What’s more, some writers following the aesthetic paradigm of Mo dernism enlivened in the two countries’ literary arenas. The Modernism litera ture in Korea and Chinese are the joint products of the domestic trait and f oreign influence in the opening world literature system, whose emergence an d development depend on the infiltration and integration of the west and eas t context. The Chinese New Sensational School and the Korean "Goo-In-Ho e" Novels are the most typical modernism schools in the 1920s and 1930s i n Korea and Chinese. Why did they develop and form in the close time per iods? What are the relationships with the Japanese New Sensational School? What are the commonality and individuality in their connotation and artistic characteristics? How about their limitations and places in literature history? All above are explored at the perspective of comparative literature in this th esis.The Japanese New Sensational School existed as the common denominat or of the Chinese New Sensational School and the Korean "Goo-In-Hoe". Fu rthermore, the historical background and literary environment are similar in many ways. Thus, the methodology of comparative literature could be applie d to explore the commonality and individuality of the Modernism literature i n Korea and Chinese. Even no factual connections exists between them.At present, the comparative research on the Chinese New Sensational Sc hool and the Korean "Goo-In-Hoe" Novels is still at the start stage, and it has big research space. This thesis is focused on the novels of the Chinese New Sensational School and the Korean "Goo-In-Hoe" in 1920s and 1930s, which includes the commonality and individuality of their development and f ormation, relationships with the Japanese New Sensational School,connotation and artistic characteristics, and also their limitations and places in literature history.The empirical research attitude is chosen on the base of the raw materi als and novel texts and the closing reading is applied combining with histo rical records and comments, trying to display true pictures of these two scho ols in a scientific and objective analysis. The comparative methods are aided to explored misreading and paradoxes in the adoption and transformation of the west modernism, especially the Japanese New Sensational School to ana lyze the commonality and individuality in their connotation and artistic chara cteristics.Beside the introduction, there are five chapters. The text structure is as the following.Chapter one is about the formation of the Chinese New Sensational Sch ool and the Korean "Goo-In-Hoe" Novels. The the developing routes of two schools are analyzed from the West Learning, the historical backgrounds, di fferent cultures, the domestic literature laws and literary styles. At the turnin g point of the 19th and 20th century, Korea and Chinese stood at the inters ection of the traditional culture of Confucianism and the west modern cultur e. Therefore, the formation of these two schools is actually the inner need t o break the traditional value system and pursue the advanced modern cultur e.Chapter two is about the selective adoption and creative adaption of the Japan New Sensational School. As an imported literature thought, the Japan New Sensational School is adopted for some reason. The first, it stood for the test from Korea and Chinese Literature world and meet with the social needs, which is a selective adoption. The second, the new sensation what th ey absorbed and elaborated is not the unalloyed one, but a new one after se lective option, adaption, transformation, and sublimation. The process may be the so called creative transformation.Chapter three is about the comparison between the connotation of the C hinese New Sensational School and the Korean "Goo-In-Hoe" Novels. The c ommonality and individuality in connotation are elaborated from the compara tive perspective in a closing reading way to explore the reasons, attempting to be as clear to the writers’ intention as possible.Chapter four is about the artistic characteristics comparison between the Chinese New Sensational School and the Korean "Goo-In-Hoe". The artistic trait of "new sensation"of these two schools, since influenced by the west m odernism, take over the artistic characteristics of the west modernism and als o-keep their own traits. The commonality and individuality in artistic charact eristics of these two schools are discussed from the the artistic form, creativ e methods, and artistic characteristics.Chapter five is about their limitations and places in literature history.
