A Study On Vietnamese Native Chinese Textbooks

Vietnam has a long history of Chinese teaching, with variety teaching form, however, its domestic research and development of Chinese textbooks has failed to meet the demand of the nation’s growing learning. Vietnam authorities have realized the importance of native Chinese teaching material, and actively developed Chinese teaching material to Vietnamese learners, of which Chinese textbook series for general education has been the most representative material. In addition, the folk Chinese scholars has wrote native Chinese textbooks for different areas, but due to insufficient fundamental research in the earlier stage and relevant theoretical study, make the most of which owning low quality, lack of pertinence, leading to no native effect. As a result, most of Chinese teaching companies introduced mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong Chinese textbooks as a formal teaching material, among which they preferred the edition of Beijing university, Beijing Language and Culture university. In the face of the serious lack of domestic Chinese teaching material in Vietnam recently, the priority is to develop and research Chinese textbooks for Vietnamese learners in Vietnam according to its national conditions and culture, for practical use.In this paper, the author determined to study native Chinese teaching material written by Vietnamese as the research object. From the aspect of writing organizations, existing native Chinese textbooks can be divided into two categories, state-compiled textbooks developed and researched by education and training department of Vietnam and education agency of Ho Chi Minh and self-compiled teaching materials by personal Vietnam scholars according to social needs. The author has built Vietnam native Chinese textbooks corpus using the two kinds of materials above as research materials, through literature research, corpus linguistics research method and comparative study on the measurement and quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis and content analysis method, made comprehensive statistics and analysis to language elements, the text, grammar and after-class practice, in order to find out compilation advantages and limitations of the Vietnam native Chinese textbooks and puts forward enlightenment and the suggestion to its research, development and construction. The author hopes these data and revelation could provide certain reference value for Vietnam native Chinese textbooks.This study adopts the method of combining quantitative and qualitative research, it is given priority to adopt database method and comparison method in a global perspective, with macroscopic system analysis and literature research as complement. First of all, Microsoft Access software is to be used to establish " Database of Chinese teaching material for Vietnam native"," Database for Chinese proficiency vocabulary and Chinese characters in grade outline ", "Database for Chinese international education with syllable words and hierarchy of Chinese characters", etc., before extract the relevant data, and then through the SPSS statistical software to conduct statistics, comparison and investigation of various elements such as words, syllables, the Chinese character data in the teaching material. In addition, according to "Chinese level rank standards and grammar outline" to analyze the entire teaching grammar project, at the same time using the content analysis way of the reliability and the artificial intervention for this set of textbooks text content and form of practice to conduct a comprehensive analysis. Based on the results of research data, the author will explore the characteristics and deficiency of two kinds of teaching materials.Secondly, based on view on characteristics of native Chinese language teaching material from professor Wu Yinghui, to discuss Vietnam existing textbooks characteristics, the author put forward suggestions for its development and innovation:(1) Before independently writing textbooks becoming mature, finding cooperation from China is the most important way; (2) Be compatible with Chinese course of the colleges on the research and developing practical local teaching material; (3) To clean up the textbook editing under no-regulation; (4) To strengthen the comparison on language and culture, outstanding teaching materials.Then, use comparison method in a global perspective and macroscopic system analysis to explore enlightenment from international Chinese localization on teaching material research achievements to compiling Chinese textbooks for Vietnam’s local. For international local Chinese textbooks research achievements, it is worthy of learning localization of Chinese teaching material research on Myanmar, Thailand and the United States, which will provide valuable enlightenment and reference on the future of the teaching material research and development in Vietnam, and the enlightenment and reference are:(1) Take priority to develop Chinese textbooks in the special field; (2) Pay attention to "advantage introduced" in the teaching material research and development process, improve the efficiency of compiling; (3) Accept "all-round support" in the teaching material research and development process; (4) Compile Chinese textbooks in a local perspective; (5) Attache great importance to influence from the effect of famous universities to the teaching material. Through this article’s research, with reference to predecessors’research results, the author put forward writers essential theory for Vietnam local Chinese textbook, including (1) the second language teaching theory; (2) other related theories for the teaching material compiling.Finally, the author extracted the innovation of this article, and it is the "The dominating theory of the national foreign language strategy" editing by Vietnam native Chinese textbook. At the same time, on the basis of the theory, the author proposed the development mode of Vietnam native Chinese textbooks, hoping that through his research could be applicable for the Vietnam native Chinese teaching material development and research and Chinese language teaching activities.
