With the implementation of nearly 40 years of reform and opening up, China has entered a crucial stage of development. The national renaissance of China takes the part of a domestic psychological binder as well as a global focus.History has repeatedly proved that the rise of great power starts within its region, so will China’s rise to Asia. And to design and implement effective Asian strategy is necessary for China to develop new period of strategic opportunity, raise regional influence and grow to middle power. As a large regional nation, China’s Asian strategy has been rooted in its rich historical accumulation, and despite of short swing and vague, shows stability and pragmaticism. While as a nation of low-key culture, China rarely states its strategic objective in Asia, which brings misunderstanding and misjudgement both home and abroad. This thesis, based on studying China’s national position and comprehensive strength, chooses Richard Rosecrance’s “bi-multipolarity†theory as an ideal model and clarifies China’s strategic objective in Asia. Afterwards it analyzes the strength and intention of China and other Asian nations and communities within the framework of stakeholder theory, and observes their interactive rules in the power-interest matrix. It argues that as the most important influential factor in China’s Asian strategy, US may bring main threat. And the structural contradiction existing between the two nations decides the “coopetitionâ€character of the bilateral relationship. Dealt properly, it will bring new opportunity for development, vice versa, it may thwart implementation of Asian strategy and even endanger world peace and stability. As a solution, it discusses the background, connotation, arrangements and achieving methods of the new model of China-US relationship and the grand neighborhood diplomacy, and concludes the balanced carryout of the two is of great importance. At last, it supplies several advices and suggestions for China to achieve its Asian strategy. |
