Coalbed methane, a kind of unconventional gas associated with coal, exists in coalseam and surrounding rocks of coal seam, a new kind of clean gas resource. CH4is the main ingredient of coalbed methane. Exploitation and utilization of coalbed methane is beneficial not only to prevent the mine methane disaster, but also to reduce greenhouse effect generated by methane. Meanwhile, exploitation of huge reserves coalbed methane has important strategic meaning for China to optimize energy structure dominated by coal and reduce energy shortage. CBM has huge reserves and attractive development prospects, the United States has entered the stage of commercial development of success. The effective utilization of CBM resources has made great economic benefits, and has caused the world attaches great importance to the exploitation and utilization of CBM resources.Based on resources development and the research status of coalbed methane (CBM), the combination of Zimbabwe carew basin coalbed methane project, the only huge reserves of coalbed methane resources on the African continent area, this paper has researched and analysised geological characteristics of coal seam, gas reserves from Salomon kalou basin, economic evaluation, development plan optimization and achieved the following results:Zimbabwe carew basin coalbed methane development projects analysis and research resources background of the project by expressing geological survey and Salomon kalou basin gas characteristics. Samples and data have been obtained to do the qualitative study of the coalbed methane development potential of the region through isothermal adsorption features of coalbed methane content analytical testing experiment.The forecasting model of carew basin coalbed methane (CBM) reserves has been established by the grey system theory to do the quantitative study forecasts the basin in the mining area coal bed gas content and distribution of carew, delimit the CBM, and make evaluation on the formation of coalbed methane content and reserves parameters collected for analysis.Zimbabwe carew basin coalbed methane project development plan is optimized by the DEA method. Salomon kalou is studied in this basin coalbed methane project development plan, content and investment estimation, ordered in using the DEA method to development plan optimization, and selected the optimal development plan of the project.Economic evaluation model has been constructed to make scientific predictions about the future market through researching the comprehensive economic, social and environmental benefits of Zimbabwe carew basin coalbed methane project. This region is the only continent with abundant coalbed methane resources area in Africa, implementation research and development of the project will have profound significance for Zimbabwe’s political and economic and social development, environmental protection as well as the development of other surrounding African countries.
