The boom of service economy and service trade has been changing the patterns of world economy and trade to a large extent. Especially, in the great momentum of regional economic integration and liberalization of service trade throughout the world, economies in the region of East Asia, including China, have been obtaining more and more important positions in the field of international service trade.Based on a comprehensive review of theoretical studies of service trade and its liberalization, this dissertation described the current situation of the development of service trade in the region of East Asia, analyzed questions concerning cooperative mechanisms of regional service trade liberalization, and raised proposals and evidences on China’s participation in regional service trade cooperation, as well as upgrading its competences of the development in service sectors and service trade. The main contents are as followed:(1) Based on a comprehensive review of development patterns of service trade both in the world and in the region of East Asia, this dissertation elaborated the current situations, characteristics and trends of service trade liberalization in the region of East Asia.(2) According to the view, that the classic theory of comparative advantage is properly applied to the theoretical analysis of service trade, this dissertation believed that service trade liberalization will also increase efficiency of the national economy and enhance optimistic effects on civilian welfares. The liberalization of service trade in the region of East Asia is a really good example through the empirical study.(3) The cooperation and development of service trade liberalization in the region of East Asia lied on double poles:First, how deep and close they are in the integration, complementation and input-output framework of service sectors and service productive factors and resources throughout the region. Second, how willing and urgent they are that regional economies seek to reach a unified free trade agreement in the liberalization of service trade in the future.(4) Against the background of the integration of Global Value Chains (GVCs) and global industrial shift, the regional trade and investment system has been undergoing profound changes during the formation and development of Service and Production Network in the region of East Asia. It is an essential institutional guarantee for the regional service trade liberalization that a stable, balanced regional integration and governance mechanism will be formed and benefited for the future of the region of East Asia.(5) This dissertation believed that there are four main aspects need to be considered during the process of China’s participation in the liberalization of service trade of the region of East Asia. Firstly, China needs to adjust and optimize the structure of service trade of its own actively, based on comparative advantages and deepening specialized division of labor; Secondly, it is necessary for China to develop the out-sourcing service industry, in order to speed up the free-flowing of factors of service production; upgrade its structure of service sectors and strive to develop domestic producer services; Thirdly, China also need to cope with key points in the process of service trade liberalization in the region of East Asia, especially to focus on the integration of mechanisms in regional economic cooperation; Forth, based on the cultivation of the policy supporting system of China’s service trade, it is a guarantee for China to maintain a sustainable development of foreign service trade.Hereby, there are four main mechanisms, including the shared mechanism, open mechanism, the mechanism of competitive cooperation, and the mechanism of economic growth, playing important roles in the process of service trade liberalization in the region of East Asia. Economies in the region of East Asia, including China, thereby have been deeply boosting the cooperation in service trade with each other, improving the regional open economic cooperation, and maintaining a sustainable economic development of their own.
