Environmental difference is one of the key factors leading to occurrence and implementation of tour behavior. Combining the three basic research units, Space, Places, Tourist, and taking man-land interaction as the prerequisite, the paper lays its focus on place attachment of tourist in a particular space of urban environment. Taking Hangzhou, a typical Chinese tourist city, as case place, taking tourists with different cultural background, Chinese and Western tourists, as research object, and viewing place attachment theory as a system, the paper summarizes the compositions of place attachment of tourists in the environment of urban destination, analyse antecedents and consequences of place attachment, and compares the difference of place attachment system in two tourists group with different cultural background, and then puts forward the market-oriented marketing and developing strategies for urban tourist destination. The research aims to develop a relatively integrative theoretical framework,which not only is a new starting point of urban tourism research and a beneficial supplement to place attachment theory, but also a practical need for urban destination to face competition challenges and construction international tourist destination.The thesis consists three parts as followed:The first part, comprised of two chapter. Chapter one is the preface, introducing the basic content of the research, eg. reason and significance of subject, the aim and issues, the structure and framework and so on. Chapter two introduces the research foundation including related basic theory, research method, and data sources.The second part is the main part of the thesis, from Chapter 3 to Chapter 7. Chapter 3 discusses respectively the dimension constitution and structural characteristic of place attachment, and effect of each dimension on place attachemnt in urban destination between Chinese and western tourists, and then compare the commonness and difference of place attachment between two groups. Chapter 4 basically tests the dimensions constituting of the the related variables of place attachment system, including Activity Involvement, Destination Attractiveness, Visit Motivation, Tourist Satisfaction and Destination Loyalty, and then determines the scale of questionnaire. Chapter 5 develops a theoretical model of place attachment system in urban destination, and hypothesis of causal relations within internal variables and their corresponding dimensions of place attachment system. Chapter 6 tests and compares the structural model of place attachment system in urban destination between western tourist sample and Chinese tourist sample, and put forward general model of place attachment system in urban tourist destination. Chapter 7 tests and compares the measurable model of place attachment system between western and Chinese sample, analyse the impact of each dimension of place attachment system as independent variables on other related dimensions, and then obtains corresponding hypothesis-verification judgment for Chinese and western samples.The third part is the chapter 8, put forward conclusion and prospect of the research, and then provide some application suggestion.Three part discussed above can be drawed the following conclusions:(1) There exists tourist place attachment of urban tourist destination, which comprised of four dimensions, namely place identity, place dependence, affective attachment and social bond.(2) Activity involvement consists of four dimensions:importance, enjoyment, self expression, and centrality of lifestyle. Destination attractiveness perception can be divided into three dimensions:natural attractiveness perception, cultural and social attractiveness perception, and facilities and services attractiveness perception. Visit motivation can be expressed as three dimensions:self development, tourist attraction, social interaction. Destination loyalty can be divided into three dimensions:cognitive loyalty, affective loyalty and conative loyalty.(3) Demographic characteristics of tourist, including gender, age, income, education level, permanent residence etc, partly effect the four dimensions of place attachment of tourist.(4) Basic travel characteristics of tourist place significant roles in place attachment of tourist.(5) Activity involvement, destination attractiveness perception, visit motivation, tourist satisfaction are antecedents of place attachment of tourist.(6) Tourist satisfaction and place attachment are antecedents of destination loyalty.(7) Each independent variable partly interact on other variables.(8) Chinese and western samples have generality in structure model, but have different path factors in measurable model of place attachment system.
