Globalization and informatization is the important characteristics of the times in today’s world. With the global rise of international trade and global layout of transnational corporations, different population size and GDP of large, medium and small cities are occurring closely contact in economy, culture, trade and politics and so on. Polycentric Mega-City Region as a new phenomenon of the evolution of urban agglomeration, has appear in highly developed urbanized area of the world, such as: metropolitan areas in western Europe and North America. Polycentric Mega-City Region has brought huge changes in worldwide regional economy. With the accelerating progress of globalization and international capital, industry transfer in future, Yangtze River Delta will emerge as Polycentric Mega-City Region and take Shanghai as a global city, make a significant impact in economy and society at home and abroad.Based on the characteristics of the times and background of Polycentric Mega-City Region, this article begin with the combing and summarizing the relevant theoretical and empirical research from domestic and abroad, using research approach of combing relevant theories→proposing analysis framework→determining study area and collecting data→empirical research→conclusion, taking the maturation of urban agglomeration of Yangtze River Delta for example, investigating the characteristics and mechanism of spatial structure and industrial function of our county’s urban system under the background of globalization and informationization, provide reference for other urban system. This article mainly investigates two core themes:first, what’s the evolution situation of spatial structure and industrial function of Yangtze River Delta which has developed several decades, what’s the evolution difference of spatial structure and function area, whether has the similar evolution trend of polycentricity, network, advanced producer service with foreign metropolitan area? Second, whether the core-periphery theory can explain the centralization and diffusion process of the evolution of spatial structure and industrial function in Yangtze River Delta, whether the core-periphery theory can explain the networked spatial structure of one city to secondary urban agglomeration, whether the core-periphery theory can explain the change of manufacture function to advanced producer function? And how to use the centralization and diffusion effect as a way of explaining the evolution phenomenon of spatial structure and industrial function in Yangtze River Delta. This article is divided into seven chapters in researching these core themes by theories and empirical. The first three chapters are Introduction, A Review of Research Progress, The Theory of Induction and Comb which aiming at provide theoretical support and analytical framework for the following empirical research. The fourth chapter and the fifth chapter aim at using centralization and diffusion effect in analyzing the evolution of spatial structure and industrial function in Yangtze River Delta. The sixth chapter aims at providing countermeasure and suggestion for the evolution of spatial structure and industrial function in Yangtze River Delta. The seventh chapter aims at summing up the full text and drawing major conclusions, proposing innovations and pointing out the shortcomings. The first chapter is introduction, its purpose is explaining the research background and research significance, research objective, fundamental conception, research method and idea, especially distinguishing the concept of urban agglomeration, metropolitan area, etc. And put forward the concept of Polycentric Mega-City Region, set the concept as the main research object of the evolution of spatial structure and industrial function. The second chapter is a review of research progress and theoretical foundation, aims at using the Central Place Theory, Core-Periphery Theory, Regional Integration Theory and Globe Urban Theory in theoretical reviewing for Polycentric Mega-City Region. This chapter discusses relevant research of Polycentric Mega-City Region from domestic and abroad in frontier perspective, especially summarizes previous studies of Yangtze River Delta. The third chapter aims at analyzing the characteristics and mechanism of the evolution of spatial structure and industrial function, presenting the characteristics of polycentricity, network, spatial scale effect and the characteristics of industrial function’s spatial form, division-contact. The third chapter also research the impact which cause by the mechanism effect of centralization and diffusion. On this basis the third chapter proposes theoretical hypothesis and constructs a frame for empirical research in Yangtze River Delta. The fourth chapter aims at analyzing of the evolution of spatial structure’s centralization and diffusion in Yangtze River Delta. First chooses Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang as the study area in Yangtze River Delta, then though empirical analyzing the economic spatial structure and network spatial structure by using census data and macroeconomic indicator, discovers the evolution trend of polycentricity and networked in Yangtze River Delta’s spatial structure. The fifth chapter based on the fourth chapters research foundation for further discussion on the centralization and diffusion trend of industrial function in Yangtze River Delta. From the perspective view of industry, the chapter put a forward research on textile industry’s function region and motor industry’s function region. The perspective view of industry mainly focus on the manufacture and advanced producer service. The latter has been demonstrated has the characteristics of diffusion of manufacture function and centralization of advanced producer service function. The sixth and seventh chapter is the countermeasure and conclusion, mainly puts forward some suggestions for future development in Yangtze River Delta, and concludes the main findings and innovations.Theoretical study in the top half of this article section has the following characteristics:① mainly discusses "flow", "network" which contains sociology modern thoughts abroad and also discuss the macroeconomic indicator, industrial structure in domestic which reflecting the difference at home and abroad, ﹎ainly combs the theoretical foundation of Polycentric Mega-City Region through the epistemology process of urban development, such as from grade to network of a city and from relative isolation "Central Place" to "Global City" which mainly engaged in global trade. ③mainly defines the concept of Polycentric Mega-City Region based on the introduction of urban system such as:urban agglomeration and metropolitan area, with an emphasis on the huge energy level and polycentricity of its population and economy scale.④mainly emphasizes the dynamic, sustainability, periodicity of the evolution process of spatial structure and industrial function of Polycentric Mega-City Region, such as the evolution process of from monocentricity to polycentricity and the promotion process of centralization and diffusion acts on industrial function, and so on.Empirical study in the bottom half of this article section has the following characteristics:①chooses the Two Provinces And One City as the main research area of Yangtze River Delta, but also includes individual cities in Anhui Province when studies the Nanjing Secondary Urban Agglomeration in the research section of economic spatial structure, mainly chooses the administrative division of the Two Provinces And One City while considers economic hinterland in special circumstance, ②researches the Yangtze River Delta’s network spatial structure in two aspects: transportation network spatial structure and enterprise network spatial structure, especially through studies the enterprise location selection in micro view and spatial connection. ③in the research section of individual function in Yangtze River Delta, first empirical analysis the functional polycentricity and manufacture functional region, then analysis six industrial function’s evolution of advanced producer service, all the above research takes urban functional region as the mainly spatial structure of industrial function’s evolution.④uses several statistical methods, such as:data comparison, GIS spatial autocorrelation analysis, GIS deterministic interpolation model and social network statistical method. This article has draw some several conclusions, such as: ①egional empirical analysis:there is a differential effect of centralization and diffusion in Yangtze River Delta, and has the different formation of polycentricity, includes:content difference, periodicity difference and "core area" difference from the perspective of Core-Periphery Theory, ②egional empirical analysis:there is a networked evolution trend of spatial structure in Yangtze River Delta, includes:transportation network spatial structure and enterprise network spatial structure.③ regional empirical analysis:there is a evolution trend of industrial functional specialization and urban functional region in Yangtze River Delta. Through industrial functional specialization, Yangtze River Delta has formed some several functional polycentricity, prompted manufacture specialization and transfer, prompted urban functional specialization of advanced producer service, caused industrial transfer adhesiveness, caused industry isomorphism of manufacture. ④the evolution of logic:the evolution process of spatial structure leads to polycentricity. ⑤the evolution of logic:the significance of polycentricity lies in function but not in spatial form. This article has the following innovations: ①erspective innovation:this article tries to conduct the empirical study from the perspective of Polycentric Mega-City Region in Yangtze River Delta, has a relative innovation compared with the previous researcher of Yangtze River Delta. ②esearch content innovation:this article tries to study the enterprise’s network of Listed companies on GEM in Yangtze River Delta, it’s a part of innovation of geographic research, the study on Secondary Urban Agglomeration also belongs to an innovative research.③interdisciplinary innovation: this article tries to research from a perspective of interdisciplinary, such as:geography, regional economy, industrial economy and sociology, for example, this article uses sociological network analysis in researching the enterprise network, this research method has a relative innovation.
