This paper mainly focus on Chinese ancient lamps and adopt the design of artistry to study. The ancient lamps is a typical case study in traditional design of apparatus, it demonstrates that traditional Chinese design feature of apparatus and its design culture.Moreover, it witnessed the development of human civilization and embodied the specific process of lifestyle evolution.It includes ideas for designing which have much reference and inspiration for our modern art design.This article mainly focuses on archaeological excavation and other various types of ancient lamps.The methodology of this article employed design, artistry and archaeological typology as well as sociology, anthropology, and cultural study. There are five aspects to study Chinese ancient lamps,which are the origin of Chinese ancient lamps and evolution, shape analysis of ancient Chinese lamps, Chinese ancient lamps' design of decorative pattern, the application of new technology and transformation about the material of Chinese ancient lamps, and the impact of ancient lamps in terms of the way of life and social custom. It mainly revealed that Chinese ancient lamps' biomimetric design features, People-oriented awareness and Chinese ancient lamps embodied the idea for bearing the truth.To explore the origin of the traditional Chinese design and examine the excellent design concept in order to give modern art design some reference and inspiration..
