Developing the technology of power electronic integration is a quite important tendency in new century in order to improve the high power density , efficiency and reliability of system, meanwhile, to decrease the cost and pollution. The main point of power electronic integration technology is to normalize the power module. We can use the standard module to comprise a flexible and intelligent system. Motor drive system plays a very important role in power electronic application field. We should pay great attention to the system integration about motor drive, especially on medium and low power application field. Integrating special function block in one chip can greatly promote the system integrated and eliminate any kinds of EMI. It is a significant research to design ASIC and re-used IP core based on PLD.We introduce the functions of control IC embedded in module after introducing a standard module-Power Electronic Building Block (PEBB) and relevance concept about distributed control system (DCS).The system of variable speed control for asynchrony induction motor has been carried out respectively using motor control IC SA866AE, MCU 8X196MC and DSP TMS320F240. With the help of experiment, the feature comparison has also been done. The developing tendency of motor control ICs is clear on the study of various motor control ICs.PLD is an effective method of ASIC designing. We carry out two kinds of control IC, that is, SPWM and SVM based on the CPLD and set up motor control system respectively. The experiments show the perfect function.The IP core in designing IC is growing more complex and abundant, so it requires higher specialization as its availability. Aiming to build up IP core library, a common IP on the base of Model Reference Adaptive System is created base on CPLD. A 10-bits system (the result of the estimated speed is a 10-bits digital) and a 12-bits one are presented and, their precisions and LC usages are compared, experimental results are given to show its effectiveness. MAX+PLUSII emulation assures the circuit structure. The result shows that forming a high capability AC control IC using this IP as an embedded core with other CPU or DSP core can efficiently shorten the CPU processing time and constitute high performance close-loop control system. Some of the IPs about the communication between D/A convert, I2C devices and control ICs are also created.
