On the theoretical basis of Chinese and overseas culture, with the comparative objects of their architecture, in a view of problematic consciousness, this dissertation manages to show the different cultural connotation and aesthetic character between their architecture, endeavores to point out its developmental track of the moment, Such as the aesthetic character, space-time consciousness, aesthetic criterion, substantial medium, decorative ingenuity and developmental direction.As this dissertation states, architecture is a part of culture, and also a product physically or mentally. The architecture shape is decided by cultural connotation, and the shape enriches the connotation, too. The different connotation between them dominates the aesthetic criterion. Conventional architecture in China focus on man, embodies logos spirit and romantic sensation about enjoyable and recognitional living of life time, no matter on space layout, structural sculpt or ornamental design. While the western focus on divinity, and represents religioso yearning for God and etern i ty, even re I i g i ous f anat i c i sm. The conform i ty of present cultures is diminishing the difference between that of Chinese and overseas. None but they use each other for reference, learn form other' s strong points to offset its weakness, could they find a developing way with ethical features and timely spirit.
