| Objective:The aim of this research is to summarize the ancient and modern literature on Bi-Syndrome TCM diagnoses and therapy regularities. In addition, it also collects and analyzes382clinical cases of the bi-syndrome to further determine the common methods used in Bi-Syndrome diagnosis, therapy as well as usage of the drugs. Through this research,it will help and improve the efficiency of TCM doctors and researchers in terms of bi-syndrome diagnoses and therapies. It also lays the foundation for further development of Chinese medicine, scientific research and provides as a reference.Methodology:Collection of382cases in Bi-Syndrome clinical data (200cases from literature records and182cases from the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Division of Rheumatology) will be compiled and statistically analyzed using Microsoft Office-Excel software. Studying of the Bi-Syndrome TCM diagnosis methods, treatments and drug therapy will be performed. In addition, rheumatism rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gouty arthritis will also be studied individually.Results:1. Total382clinical cases were collected for this research. The breakdown as follows:215male patients (56.3%) and167women patients (43.7%). The male to female ratio is approximately1.3:1. Patients above40-year-old is majority and consists of209cases, accounting for54.7%of all patients.2. The results showed that bi-syndrome can be categorized into six main types. There are wind-cold-dampness retention,112cases (29.3%); hot and humid blockage,101cases (26.4%); cold and heat mixed,11cases (2.9%); heat blockage,18cases (4.7%); phlegm-blood stasis,42cases (11%) and health-qi xu with pathogens,100cases (26.2%). The therapy methods used in bi-syndrome are:disperse wind, resolve dampness, clear heat, dispel cold, smooth meridians, resolve blood and phlegm blockage. Conclusion:1. The studies categorize the cause of bi-syndrome into six syndromes. Namely wind-cold-dampness retention, hot and humid blockage, cold and heat mixed, heat blockage, phlegm-blood stasis blockage syndrome and health-qi xu with pathogens. The results showed that wind-cold-dampness retention syndrome, hot and humid Blockage and health-qi xu with pathogens are the top three most common syndromes.2. Most of the herbs used were warm-based. However, combinations of both warm-based and cold-based herbs were also used extensively, hence resulted in coexistence of cold and heat properties. The main categorized herbs used are bitter and acrid flavors while the sweet sweet-based herbs may be used as a supplementary. Drug meridian used were mainly belong to the liver, spleen and kidney.3. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) emphasizes on rheumatism medicine, antipyretic, blood circulation herbs, tonic medicine class of herbs. For Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS), it emphasizes on tonic medicine, rheumatism medicine, traditional medicine, as well as relieving drugs mainly, supplemented with heat-clearing drugs. Gouty arthritis drugs consisted of antipyretic diuresis Shenshi drugs, rheumatism medicine and blood circulation. |
