Objective: An experimental animal model of Proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) was established so as to investgate the effects of Chinese medicine- Huayusanjie Tablet on the expressions of apoptosis-related factors.Methods: The animal model of PVR was established by injecting the rabbit-Retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells cultured in vitro into the vitreum of normal rabbits. All the rabbit models were treated by Huayusanjie Tablets for 28 days continuously at the same time of establishing PVR models. By methods of immunohistochemistry, the effects of Huayusanjie Tablet on the expressions of Ki-67, bcl-2 and bax in both proliferative diaphragms cells and retina ganglion cells were observed at lastResults: There are anomalo-shape proliferative straps in vitreum at 3st of establishing models. Longer is time, the model rabbits are more severity. As a result, proliferative straps were detected on surface of retina which lead to retinal detachment of rabbit eyes in model groups at last While Huayusanjie Tablet could restrain straps proliferating and decrease retinal detachment effectively. And the data show that treat effect of tall dosage therapy groups was excellent than that of low dosage therapy groups. In additional, it could also restrain cell proliferating in proliferative diaphragms and adjust the expression of Bcl-2/Bax in both proliferative diaphragms cells and retina ganglion cells effectively.Conclusion; The kind of PVR model which was established by injecting the rabbit-Retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells cultured in vitro into the vitreum of normal rabbits is successful. The data suggest dial Huayusanjie Tablet could restrain the formation and development of PVR. Its mechanism maybe lie in restraining cells proliferating in proliferative diaphragms and adjusting the expression of Bcl-2/Bax in both proliferative diaphragms cells and retina ganglion cells effectively which could take some effect on protecting retina ganglion cells to a certain extent...
